JTR did not rape anyone, he only attacked one victim in their home, there was no bondage involved, there is no inducation he committed burglary, no indication he contacted hus victims prior to the murders, no inducation if prowling/peeping, spent very little time with his victims (except MJK), did not target middleclass wimen ir couples, and he certainly didn't plan his crimes meticulously. The only things they had in common were brandishing a knife, murder, their last murder was particularly vicious, and they never got caught - yet.
Trying to compare psychological motivation of two unknown suspects is wildly speculative at best.
Agreed. Sadly at times I tend to post too much of my free think rather than concise prose.
My interest in the final canonical v. EAR lies purely in the concept of having long periods of time where they could act out their fantasies. For EAR initially it was about sex and more specifically I believe feeling like he was sexually proficient/talented, whereas with JTR his end game was a much more savage and darker lust to eviscerate, which you pointed out was a release for JTR.
The question is really more geared towards EARs evolution from serial rapist to serial killer..
We saw JTR go from disembowling to complete and utter savage evisceration mutilation when given time and privacy. Was privacy the only thing that kept JTR from doing to his other vitims that which he did to Mary Kelley, or did JTR also evolve?
Back to EAR his alleged kills were all confrontational kills until 1979 when he escalated his routine to include murder.
What caused the escalation? Did rape stop working as an arousal tool? Was he somehow rebuffed in the non EAR portion of his life? Was he upset by the discovery that he had strong homosexual urges?
