I`m sure the issue of high school year books being checked has been raised a few times before but something hit me today .....in Sudden Terror it says and I quote "Detectives contacted all the high schools in the area. An EAR profile was given to the very cooperative faculty members who promised to look through yearbooks of the last two years"
This statement certainly had me pause for thought , exactly how thoroughly were high school yearbooks checked because taking into account that quote, the detectives didnt look at the yearbooks themselves but they asked someone to do that for them . What also raised my eye brows was that they only said for the last two years , that would mean the class of 1976 and 1975......
While looking through the reports of the estimated age of EAR based on the early rape victims and the prowler sightings before the rapes , I noticed quite a sizable number gave an estimate of twenty-five and twenty-five to thirty and the notable exceptions were the lady with kids who said he seemed young and the "Bill Carmichael" incident were they said the suspect was around twenty years old. There was also the January 1977 rape in Citrus Heights were the victim was raped twice and said her attacker was between thirty and forty years of age. Now, most descriptions hover around mid-twenties as the average age . Assuming those estimates were correct then that would make EAR someone who graduated possibly in the class of 1970 or 1971. Allowing for a margin of error either way then it would be logical to include likely graduation year anywere from the late 60`s to just before the mid 70`s .......
This then brings me back to the quote from ST about the high school yearbooks being checked for only two years prior to the attacks and I am now wondering exactly how thoroughly were the high school yearbooks checked and by whom because that quote certainly doesn`t instill too much confidence in me .......
I am therefore appealing to anyone who knows:-
(1) which high school yearbooks were checked ? (2) what years specifically were covered ? (3) did the people contacted by detectives carryout their promise to check? (4) Were there any un-copoerative faculty memmbers?
