The Maggiore case file is still in storage correct? I assume they wouldn't "toss" in the garbage the case file for an unsolved homicide? Again many missteps and unfortunately it occurred during the time where there was pure evil walking the streets of Sacramento and then Southern California. I was at a security convention where LE was investigating a horrific murder of a young girl committed inside her home. Luckily there were able to obtain a DNA profile which they compared to many persons of interest. Without finding a match to the evidence the case was on the cusp of being labeled a "cold case" when one investigator had an idea.
The detective suggested performing a very expensive DNA test which helps narrow down the pool of suspects. After the test was performed the results showed that the killer was an African American Male. This being a predominately white neighborhood was very big news and shifted the investigation in an entirely new direction. Soon after a suspect was identified and a DNA match was made putting the killer behind bars. I heard many comments about if they have narrowed down the list for EAR-ONS based on a more advanced testing on his DNA profile.
Anyone know if this has been done or can be done? Next question would be would they release this information and if not why? I haven't seen anything conclusive on this so that probably says if they did the analysis they are not telling us.
If they are still continuing to withhold information at this point I will take a leap of faith in stating that although all of us have the right intentions in discussing this case on here we are probably spinning our wheels. Folks without accurate and verifiable information this is an exercise in futility.
Of course Sandia, Slumbergirl and others give me their take on it and their opinions may still give us hope. I am just being a realist. I don't think the people in the LE community realize how much of an impact an arrest in this case will have on the community and reestablish trust between LE and the public at large. This will definitely send a message that you may hide in the shadows for years on end as the perp. However the truth will catch up to you eventually and a first class ticket to Death Row may arrive with one knock on the door. With the SWAT team present of course.
