Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” this is not so in all cases.
The above does not work out for some victims of crime. lots of reasons why people do not come forward. not remembering the assault properly being drunk/drugged, threats, mental incapacity, embarrassment, feelings of elements of guilt, (how did i get in that position), ramifications of being questioned through the court system. Its usually the power assertive plying his crimes on the vulnerable. Sadly sexual assault being a very under reported crime.
This is beside the point. An increase in the statute of limitations does not remedy this issue. As I stated above, the system "failed" none of Cosby's alleged victims. They should have come forward at the time which may have prevented future victims from coming to harm.
different times..in 1976 how could you imagine a conviction of rape in 10+ years time with a fair trial.. (let a thousand guilty go free rather than one innocent be incarcerated) ..fast forward to dna.. hundreds and hundreds of serial rapists and murderers all around the world being prosecuted for 30+ year ago crimes.
it is dna technology that changes this, the elapse of time should have no bearing on guilt. if your law is out dated stand up and have it changed. good men sometimes do. Every case on its merits. In the case of Bill, dna is probably irrelevant its a different case. for me Bill walks time does win. So i throw in a question if ear was dna proven positive and the law on rape statues was unlimited and he was alive would you agree with a proposed prosecution.
