Based on what though? I like you, Mitchell. We had our spats, but I like a good sparring and you provide that. I just look at the case files and I've yet to see any credible evidence of tampering. You'd have to say if there was tampering, it would involve county and state police, a family member of Theresa, and the FBI. That's just the tip of the iceberg. A conspiracy would involve even more than that.
I'd put more skepticism on the filmmakers who have more to gain by making money by turning a court case into a sexy scandal which I believe they have.
Brendan Dassey's first confession was not recorded and his subsequent confessions were, by any reasonable standard, false. He was fed information, badgered, and intimidated until he relented. He's very slow. The thing couldn't have gone down according to the narrative established during the interrogations. The DA needed a witness who could testify against Avery and when they found his gf unwilling, they moved to the next lowest hanging fruit.
It sucks that Teresa Hallbach's murder wasn't properly investigated. It sucks for her that MCSD was more concerned with sticking it to Avery and saving their own necks than providing her the justice she deserved. Avery could very well be guilty but we will never know with any certainty because Hallbach was so dishonored by LE.
I'm not sure Manitowoc Sheriffs Deputies Lenk and Colborn helping in the investigation was really a conflict. What did they personally have to gain or lose? Even if there was a sligh conflict, there's nothing to conclude they tampered. If you're referring to the lawsuit, I again quote: "Lenk and Colborn were not named in Avery's lawsuit, and the county was not being sued for $36 mil. Vogel and Kocourek, who had both retired, were named in the suit and being sued for the majority of the money. It was Kocourek's personal insurance that was refusing to cover his liability, not Manitowoc County's. Manitowoc County's insurance did not refuse to cover the lawsuit, and in fact did pay out when the case was settled. The lawsuit was not a financial threat to the county."
So to me, this stink about Manitowoc's involvement was nothing more than the filmmakers trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill to spice up their story. More can be found here: stevenaverycase.com/was-there-a-motive-to-frame-avery/#sthash.8zKW085b.dpbs
As for Brendan, I don't believe he was led into a false confession. He was scared to tell the truth and it's not uncommon for someone guilty to withhold or lie to take away as much of the responsibility on them as possible. It can take multiple interviews and interrogations to get most of the real story. He was scared of what would happen to him and he was scared of Steve. The collection of interviews with police and phone records to his mother proves this. In Brendan's Nov 6 interview, he also lies about spending the night with Avery. He says he went over to Avery's to help push a car into the garage, but went home to eat supper alone and did not see Steven again until the next morning. Again, it is unclear why someone who had no idea there was a body in the fire would lie about having a bonfire with his uncle. Keep in mind, Avery denied having a bonfire. The same bonfire that several saw him have. Of course we know what was in those burn pits. The same burn pits that Avery claimed he did not use recently. Avery lied about seeing Theresa on the day of her disappearance. He makes a call to her cell "wondering why she never showed up." Then he claims he did see her and that story constantly changed. It was Brendan who said they cleaned the garage after the murder with bleach. Brendan offered that confession. He wasn't badgered into saying that. His Mom saw bleach on his jeans and asked why. He told her he was helping Steve clean the garage. Steve tells his ex-girlfriend when she called that Brendan was helping him clean. Was Brendan stupid? Hell yes he was, but that didn't mean he didn't participate in the crime. He most likely never would have if not for Steve Avery.
Speaking of his ex-girlfriend, she claims she didn't testify against Avery because she was terrified of him. His abuse to her and others is well documented. Video can be seen here:

There's so much clear cut proof of Avery's guilt, but I mostly wanted to address what you wrote.
