Annotating the FBI Map (EAR-ONS-GSK Attack Sites)

The map posted by the FBI of the attack sites is very helpful.  It's unfortunately too big to attached here at 15+ MB, so I'll just have to link to it (view and download FBI map). What I particularly like is the moderate level of detail, giving us a handy way to visualize all of the attacks and their numbered sequence.

I think it's easier to use than a custom Google map, but it's even better to use them in conjunction. I made a humble effort to create one that corresponds to the FBI map as closely as possible (using My Maps feature on Google Drive.)  Going through the locations one at a time, it seems as if they match well with the streets designated by Richard Shelby in Hunting a Psychopath, except where the spacing is increased to avoid overlap.  Where the two maps differ is where I went with Shelby and assumed the FBI map was fudged.  You can easily copy this map to your own account and modify as you like. One problem is we now have to deal with three numbering systems.  The first is the official victim numbering system by law enforcement as listed on the ear-ons.com site. The second is the attack numbering in Larry Crompton's Sudden Terror (also used on this site in the Description of EAR Crimes). And the third is used by the FBI with three additional attacks added to the canon.  It can be quite confusing.

The table below attempts to cross reference everything. Please let me know if anything looks off, and I will correct it.

As always, N, you have a gift for presenting information in a way that makes it easier to process, to notice patterns, to better understand such a large number of data and put it in context. I have really appreciated the work you have done on this board. Thanks!

It appears that the main difference in attack numbers is that the FBI is adding both the Rodney Miller shooting and the Maggiore murders to the EAR list. The wisdom of doing that is questionable, but the FBI's decision appears to be the major reason why the numbering sequence could get confusing, from attack 14 on down.

Thanks, Chill and Deb. I started taking notes so I could follow the discussions on this forum, and these days I probably qualify as obsessed with this case.  By summarizing information I feel like I'm at least doing something to try to help. 

Drifter, about those extra attacks...  The FBI also added the the break-in of the alert family in San Ramon, and so their numbering differs by three by the time we're at the end of the list.  More confusion.

There are two other issues with the FBI map that we really haven't hashed-out yet. The teen sisters on Winding Way in Carmichael are being treated as two attacks (#30 and #31) while the double murders are all being treated as single attacks.  Seems odd.  Then there's the green icon being used for the first Goleta attack on Queen Ann Lane, the one where the couple escaped (#53). Green signifies murder, so that definitely appears to be a mistake. The prevent unnecessary speculation, the bureau ought to address the discrepancies.
