In going through the attacks, I came across an interesting bit of info which I haven't been able to find any more about in other threads. Also I haven't read Hunting a Psychopath, where this bit apparently comes from. Forgive me if it's been discussed before.
From the materials left behind at the scene of Attack #15, (March 18, 1977 in Rancho Cordova) www.coldcase-earons.com/15.php:
"LE found the ax on the back fence. Shoe impressions were located in the damp ground of the victim's backyard. They showed a herringbone or zigzag pattern, the same as found at other rape locations. (HAP: They found two empty Dr. Pepper cans by the garage. It was assumed that the suspect brought them and drank them.) [Note: Was EARONS always drinking two cans of something and leaving it behind? I keep seeing this mentioned over and over, usually beer] Missing from the residence were the victim's driver's license, her sister's school identification, and two of the victim's rings. A bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care hand lotion was found on the victim's roof in the backyard. The bottle did not belong to the household. (HAP: Two real estate signs for Kastoras Realty were also lying in the backyard.)"
Does anybody know anything else about these signs? Was the house for sale? There is no mention of that in the reports I've read. If not, were they brought to the scene as part of some possible ruse for that night or another night that was abandoned? Were they removed from another location in the course of being prowled, perhaps one where an identification or composite could have been gleaned by witnesses? Was anybody at the Kastoras firm questioned? If any of these things are true, that's a pretty huge piece of information that might relate to MO of EAR/ONS, especially in light of some of the repeated mentions of suspicious/fake real estate agents or potential buyers being in and around attack scenes in the days preceding.
I've located info about a Constantine Kastoras that was a licensed agent in Sacramento from 1969 until his license expired in 2009. www.californiabrokers.org/kastoras-constantine
