If the defendant denies the charge then the DNA evidence has to be tested in court and the process of obtaining the DNA in the 70s/80s, storing it and matching it, linking the SoCal and Sac rapes etc will all be examined by the defending legal team.
Then remember he is being charged with the Maggiore murders, is there any DNA linking to those or is this just circumstantial with the SoL expired repes? Can he deny some of the crimes that the DNA can't link him to?
Don't get too carried away with DNA, it can and has been successfully overturned before.
I'm only stating that the defending legal will attempt to fully test the DNA evidence, because that is their job and this is how a developed legal process works in the civilized world. That's why it's a good system. Summary justice is more DeAngelo's style.
