I am terribly sorry to hear that you were misrepresented by a former member of LE after already having gone through the trauma of a sadistic assault. Thank you for joining us on here and letting us know the truth and giving us a reminder that, while a valuable resource in many ways, books about the case can be misleading and even outright wrong about aspects of the case.
Considering the bulk of this books content comes from the sequential recollections of life-altering events that affected 100+ people directly, not to mention their extended families -- there should be some consideration for facts to preside over fiction. Especially if you consider that the reason some of these authors even have access to this information was through the scope of their job as a civil servant. I've heard rumors that some detectives may have "saved" case files and things like that....I'm not sure what that actually means for those documents and records. Hopefully they never left the building.
I'm on the rail with this Detective-Author business in general for open and on-going cases. While I appreciate the exposure these books give the EAR/ONS case, if they are primarily using real case data to fill the book and embellishing here and there (for exactly what market?) it can infuriate victims and muddy the waters in ways where the exposure I would otherwise appreciate can become counter-productive.

Sunny, you also touched me so much. I had to cry when reading what you wrote. You are a strong woman and a survivor. The best revenge against that monster that attacked you while you were asleep in your own home with your husband and little son, is to go on and not let him affect one more minute of your life. I know that is probably much easier said than done. Hopefully it is possible though. For a member of LE, indeed for anyone, to say a rape victim enjoyed it is beyond ridiculous. A person in fear that they are going to be murdered is not going to enjoy being attacked, threatened, and raped by a psychopath! You have truly been victimized twice. I am, however, so happy to see all of this positive support you are getting on this board! God Bless you, Sunny! And God bless these board members that want to support you.
Wow. How horrible. Sorry that happened to you. You deserve better ma'am. When I read that portion in Sudden Terror I thought it was unnecessary garbage that didn't belong. Now with you bravely coming forward as you have, and posting your email exchange, it really calls into question the credibility, facts, and decency of Crompton and his book. It's a damn shame. Sorry again to you for all that you have gone through, you truly are a brave tough lady.
Sunny, I am so in awe of your courage in coming here to tell your story. I cannot imagine what you have been through as a victim of this dreadful criminal, and it is very distressing to know that you feel victimized by law enforcement, and Larry Crompton in particular. The part about Sudden Terror that concerns an individual named Sunny always bothered me. It seemed improper that a respected LEO who apparently cared about the case and the victims was talking about a victim in such a prejudicial, judgmental and offensive manner. Even if a victim named Sunny had gone on to do the things that Larry Crompton describes in Sudden Terror, I don't believe that anyone - especially not the officer in charge of the investigation - should write about it or judge it, because it's simply none of anyone's business. The fact that he has added this highly offensive fictitious element to a portrayal of a victim is appalling.
I know there is nothing anyone here can possibly say to make any of this better, but I want you to know that there are a lot of very dedicated individuals on this board who desperately want to identify the man who attacked you and ensure that he faces justice for his crimes.
You didn't lose because you're here--telling your story. Don't let ANYONE stop you from doing so. There are many caring people here who want to see this monster identified and brought to justice. You didn't lose at all--it's people like you who are the keys to solving the case. Anything you can remember--even the most minute, seemingly irrelevant detail--is a piece placed into the jigsaw puzzle, and that's the way he'll be caught. You're a heroine for coming here and setting the record straight--I admire you for that.
I echo the messages of welcome, compassion and respect offered by my colleagues here, Sunny39. I am in awe of your courage and resilience. I hope you find support on this board -- the moderators have done a good job of making sure that this remains a respectful, safe forum. As Port said, you may have the critical piece of information or insight to break the case -- we are glad you are here!
Dear Sunny, your experience at the hands of this monster was hideous. It's absolutely unthinkable that anyone--let alone a former investigator--would stoop so low. I hope you can hear from the comments here that you are not alone. You are supported by many decent people whose hearts go out to you, and who want nothing more than Justice and Peace for you. I hope that you can tolerate our well- intentioned, if sometimes clumsy, attempts to find this guy and give him the treatment he deserves. I hope you'll remain an active part of this discussion, so that the investigation can benefit from your point of view, and so that you can feel the comfort of a community that is behind you with compassion and love. Agatha.
Thank you very much for coming here to set the record straight. ST was my first ONS book, and I was honestly very confused on that section of the book, as to how the extra garbage had any significance on ONS in general. Crompton owes you an apology, and we owe you thanks. Stay strong.
phillycheesesteak: thank you to whatever mod approved me...time to eat a cheesesteak and read old theories

phillycheesesteak: hmmmm in the attack where he took the girl to the canal on his wedding anniversary...he told her he had to wait for his parents to leave. Sharons parents lived off the canal across greenback lane. Wondering if he was talking about Sharons parents?

elir: Anyone watch Very Scary People episode on GSK? JayB130 thought the interview with the babysitter was interesting. I have not been able to watch it yet. Hoping to get the time later this week.
May 4, 2021 18:37:48 GMT
JayB130: "Very Scary people" is definitely worth watching just for the interview of his daughters babysitter. She provided some new info.
May 8, 2021 3:24:09 GMT
JayB130: She gave an interview to a news magazine but I can't recall off hand which magazine out was. I'll have to look up the article. But, she provided more info in the "Very Scary People" episode.

JayB130: I found it. The original interview of JJD's daughters' babysitter 9Here you go
May 8, 2021 3:28:30 GMT
JayB130: Sorry for all the messages. I'm on a cellphone at work
May 8, 2021 3:32:36 GMT
johnnyhands1: Good link JayB130, gives the hours info for the babysitting times, " a few hours in the evenings, but never overnight" and "when the girls were 6 to 8 years old" (the late eighties?)
May 8, 2021 15:49:40 GMT
elir: something odd about that interview. "DeAngelo was divorced, Jeannie and Bob said, and his two daughters were about 6 to 8 years old at the time their daughter looked after the children" but joe had 3 daughters
May 9, 2021 2:57:45 GMT
elir: where was daughter #3?
May 9, 2021 3:00:08 GMT
johnnyhands1: Maybe the youngest 3rd daughter was with SH and/or family. Or, was the oldest daughter with relatives, friends or evening activity. Oldest maybe babysitter at other times, with neighbors unaware. Neighbor girl might even know all this, but wasn't asked.
