So maybe, as a suggestion, we can stop harping on one statement and instead take into account his entire body of work on the EAR/ONS, his reputation as an investigator (oh, I forgot! He has a webpage on bigfoot so he's abviousoy a nutter! Oh, but if he's a nutter then why do I care so much about anything he says?), and the clues he presents to us as evidence that he has found the identity of the perp. If we are not satisfied that he has met the conditions to be 99% certain, then that is all that matters — that we have made a fair assessment of his claim and made a logical decision about whether or not we think he has the grounds to make this statement. And if we don't think he has the grounds, it is up to us whether or not that destroys 99% of his credibility, or that his claim needs to be taken in context as the opinion of one man who has done a lot of investigative work and arrived at a result he believes to be true.
But personally, I am tired of hearing the 99% claim brought up again and again as if it is all that matters. There is more to Quasar and his research than that one statement. Hanging on to it as though it were the only meaningful thing he's ever written about EAR/ONS seems to be rather belligerent. In the end, if Quester is wrong about his POI, he has still done about as much good for this case as anyone who isn't a cop by making an excellent website documenting the crimes in detail and presenting it to a wider audience. So, personally, I'm willing to cut him some slack on the whole 99% deal. The man is entitled to his opinion. If it is so concerning to some that he made this remark publicly, contact him and tell him what you think. Contact LE and tell them you want to see this DNA test done and don't want to hear any excuses about jurisdictions and whatnot. But please stop the endless obsession with 99%!
It's a statement of opinion. Not of fact.
