My basic point here is to remind posters that local LE (Sac County Sheriff's Dept) were kinda at the bottom of the authority level for this case. Above these people were VIPs at the state and national level.
Here are some people who supersede local LE in authority, and who must surely have been aware, at least through assistants, of the EAR case in Sacramento and/or the ONS case in southern California.
California Attorney General (1971-1979) ... Evelle Younger
(Among other things, the AG is "the chief law officer of California ... sees that the laws of the State are ... enforced and prosecutes violations of state law ... He or she supervises the State's district attorneys, as well as its law enforcement officers. The A.G. may personally prosecute any case that would normally be handled by a district or city attorney ...")
California Attorney General (1979-1983) ... George Deukmejian
California Chief Deputy Attorney General (1979-1983) ... Michael V. Franchetti (Vietnam Vet)
(The State A.G.'s office at that time was divided into three divisions, one of which was the Criminal Division.)
Head of Criminal Division under Evelle Younger was ... [name is known]
Sacramento County District Attorney (late 1970s) ... [name is known]
Sacramento Deputy District Attorney, Criminal Division (1976-1978) ... [name is known, (Vietnam vet)]
Sacramento County Sheriff ... Duane Lowe
Under Sheriff ... Robbie Waters
Under Sheriff ... Dee Reynolds
Deputy Sheriff ... William N. Miller
Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Attorney ... Alan R. Darneille
There are gaps in our knowledge of the organization of VIPs relative to Sacramento in the late 1970s. Some of us are working on that.
What is less known is the involvement of federal agencies. What specific individuals represented the FBI? What specific individuals were VIPs at Mather AFB in late 70s?
Posters need to get off this kick of assuming that LE people who write books or articles about this case, or who star in YouTube videos, are the sole authority on this case.
Drifter
Here is a couple of youtube vids that feature Evelle Younger very prominently. I love the quote about "this isn't going to be another Dallas." The documentary film, concerning the assassination of RFK, was released in 1973. It is amazing how much evidence in that case seems to have gone missing. Does anyone know if Stan Los was also involved in the investigation of RFK's murder? I would think it highly likely since he was assigned to valley, and he is also listed on one of the unusual sites. There are also recordings on youtube of the interviews detectives did with a witness who reported she saw the woman in the polka dot dress. The interviews were done at the Rampart Station in LA. I only mention it because of how similar, in imo, the recording qualities sound to the background of the ear calls. Many of the same clicks and hisses can be heard. I know when I used to do recordings on reel to reel, there was an effect we called "tape ghosts", where recordings made prior on the same tape would not quite erase completely, and during quiet parts you could still here the erased parts to a degree.
The other vid is well worth watching too. It is a training film narrated by Evelle Younger.
I would caution people not underestimate the power of the Attorney General or the local DA's.
