It's been suggested that ear/ons knew Brian Maggiore. Brian Maggiore grew up in Fresno, only 40 minutes north of Visalia. The Visalia and Fresno High Schools might have had rival football/basketball teams etc. They may have had some cross over with scout troops or ROTC programs. At 21, Brian Maggiore could have been the same age as ear. According to more than one witness or possible sighting, Brian M. looked like the ear/ons.
I believe ear to have been around 21 at the time of his crimes. That fits with his having been the VR as a kid in high school.
Has anyone ever explored the possibility that the person who recognized ear/ons was Katie Maggiore? Where was her high school? I haven't been able to locate a work reference for her.
Regarding military service, I do think the ear/ons had some tactical training. He shot very well. He was fast enough by foot and bike that he clearly trained in some capacity. He was lean. Oddly enough, he retreated when he lost control of a crime scene. This is not normal behavior for someone caught up in the business of assault. It's a trained behavior. Tactical teams are trained to retreat from a fair fight - because a fair fight means a 50% likelihood of failure. All of this also means he may have met B. Maggiore via the military.
Studies suggest psychopaths have trouble changing their course of action. One study involving a rigged game reavealed that even when all participants understood they'd lose money if they continued, all the psychopaths continued and lost. The normals stopped when losses became apparent. I can't find that study, but this one has similar observations. This makes his retreat during a failed assault seem unusual - more like a trained or learned behavior.
Here's a link to observations on psychopaths. It's interesting reading. www.cassiopaea.com/cassiopaea/psychopath.htm
