The hypothesis is that the Maggiores were gunned down because they saw and possibly recognized their killer, possibly EAR. I find this credible because of the shoestrings found with EAR's unique knot near the scene, and as they say in business: location, location, location. With the shoestrings that bind EAR to the scene Brian may not only have recognized his killer but EAR himself. I suggest seeking the simplistic answer to the question of howBrian may have recognized EAR-but possibilities are myriad. I spoke with Katie's very elderly parents in late 2013 and they stressed that she was still living in the Central Valley and commuting to Rancho Cordova at time of her death. Also spoke with longtime old friend of Katie's who grew up with her and did road trip to SF before Katie and Brian were married. She said there was a local guy who had a crush on Katie and wasn't happy about her marrying Brian, so there were suspicions there, but nothing more. Still we have the shoestrings that I believe bind EAR to the Maggiores killings. Figure out how Brian recognized his killer and you've solved the case.
