Good point and I think an excellent possibility T&S.  I have been thinking about the poem and the "planned exile" line though.  If he was working for a painting contractor, how could he have a planned exile unless he was the boss.  Then there is the "achieving while others lifting" line, which again lead me to think he might have been the boss or the son, brother or other relative of said boss.  I hope they look into this possibility as well as any employees.  Of course the poem could just be another attempt to mislead and just b.s. 

This is so exciting and hopeful!!!  I would imagine that it should not be hard to follow where the painting contractor had other jobs before Sacramento --  (Visalia?); and after Goleta --  Ventura? Orange County? and where else? out of state?   I wonder if the contractor is still in business?  So many questions and I'm looking forward to getting the answers!

Two negative thoughts:
Firstly,  I believe the criminal profile said he would have a hard time working with others and be unpleasant to be around.  If he was an employee, I would wonder how long he lasted on the job.  It would be fantastic if he was a long term employee that could be traced through job sites to the other locations, but what if he didn't last long with the company?

Secondly, if he is alive and knows about this, the profile said he would commit suicide rather than be captured, or... I wonder if he is packing his bags as we speak heading for the border?

Final thought is a positive one, I actually think they really are going to catch him.  Yes!

From what I have read of Port's posts, one of the business cards was found on Offerman's dresser. I don't remember reading that anybody could explain how it got there. That's all I got on it at the moment. Maybe Port might post a correction if I am remembering it wrong.

It seems LE needs to push this lead in all of the relevent jurisdictions for it to fuel any significant leads, however the Sacramento permit and the fact that they mention paint at two of the rapes leads me to believe NorCal LE is somewhat in the fold here. However, if all the agencies felt strongly about this lead wouldn't they coordinate a joint media release on the subject???

I'm assuming the paint in question has been tied to construction, because after all, paint can be used in a variety of other fields. I'm also assuming the paint is found in a location at the crime scene that directly ties it to the crime itself, being that paint can easily be transferred by any individual who comes into contact with it and not necessarily be from the suspect.

So yeah...based on the current lack of media/LE touting this evidence, I'm skeptical of its relevance.

It leads me to believe that EAR was setting down a bag that may have had slight specks of paint from a job site. In this color chart, it indicates that similar color matches were used to paint fleet trucks and airliners, but the flecks were not glossy but flat.

The thing that strikes me as being most interesting here is whatever the item is that's transferring the paint, has enough paint on it to keep transferring the paint in all of these locations.

I think the Harrington crime is just as good of a place to look for a connection here.

I don't know what to think about Apollo Airlines. But for me it goes along with the Raytheon screwdriver, the decals, the footprints to the Davis airport, Hetrick, and now what little I know about the phone hackers.

Would it be reasonable to say that whatever company he worked for that may have sent him down to Goleta to paint(?) also sent him down to Irvine and Dana Pt.? And if so, then they might have sent him to Irvine in 81 and 86? And if it was a corporate account then it might have had the same business in all three places? Back then the grocery store at northwood was Vons. There is a Chase Bank there at Northwoods now but back then it was a Bank of America and there is one of those at Goleta and in Dana pt. also.

Someone tried to burn down the Carls Jr in Northwoods back then also. And there is one of those in all three places.

If LE is really working the Sac developer angle in regards to Calle Real, wouldn't there be an East Bay connection here somewhere, considering that's where EAR was last offending prior to heading south???

The more I think about this I'm having a hard time understanding this as a local press release. Are the other jurisdictions putting less weight into this theory?

Next, someone should look at construction in Visalia.  I know that the hospital there advertised for a construction supervisor during the time period prior to the Ransacker beginning his crimes.

David Witthuhn said they they had frequent contact with the construction foreman for their tract on various home fixes.



Apollo only operated in Santa Barbara between 1979-1981.  As this schedule shows, there were direct flights from Santa Barbara to Sacramento and other bay area cities.
