I live in south London, not far from Croydon. The local animal charities here are saying the number is actually much higher than 30, and that whoever it is (more than one person possibly) isn't just targeting south London but also going further south into the corridor of Kent. A lot of the animals aren't discovered 'til way after the fact so the police aren't that interested, terrible as it sounds.
When I was younger I worked at a manufacturing plant. My first day on the job, a guy(whom I would be working closely with everyday) told me that he had just gotten out of the penitentiary. I asked what he was in for. He replied that blew a guys head off. The night before his trial was to begin(wherein the state was seeking the death penalty) he accepted a plea bargain for a thirty year sentence. He was released after 15 years with time off for good behavior.
At the time he had been out of prison for a little over a year. He had an old lady, a new baby, and a new puppy. He frequently came to work with stories about his little family. Pictures and so forth. One day he came to work and showed everyone a picture of his new puppy crumpled in a ball at the base of a wall. He said the dog had been whining all day and finally s#!t on his bed. He grabbed the dog, snapped its neck and threw it against the wall. Everyone thought this was so funny. When he soon got a new puppy, everyone asked him if he had shown it pictures of the old puppy. So that it would stay in line, I guess.
The ordeal left me shocked and traumatized. His story indicated a sick dog that needed attention. He was too stupid to comprehend what the dog was trying to communicate to him so he killed it. I ended up repeatedly calling the local police department where I was quickly dismissed. The reason for my calls was always relayed to the policeman who I was being referred to and they somehow always failed to pick up the call. I ended up sending an email to a local crime stoppers tipline and never heard back.
I was very worried about the baby in his house. His new puppy. Not so much his live in gf because she was there by choice. Anyone who could see anything favorable in that worthless pile of s#&t was beyond redemption, anyway.
I was so filled with anger and disgust that I subsequently erupted into a violent rage and was fired.
The lesson I learned from this was that cops are less interested in the welfare of animals and children than they are in writing chickens#&t tickets. They won't even come to the phone.
