quote from zforce:
"... it isn't exactly clear if LE has kicked it [the previous rape allegation] around the way we have, or rather if they're putting the pieces together the way we are.
I can't imagine the OC Sheriffs are talking about this the way we are, due to lack of committed resources and daily new crime.
This is all relatively new territory in the case, and while I think LE should be privy to this discussion, we're still falling short on Janelle's exact addresses and whereabouts from 1981-1986, as well as the date the previous rape allegedly occurred. These items are compulsory to the discussion and I would urge all involved to keep pushing forward to obtain this info.
Larry Pool is right. This is a hot case, but until we have a concise timeline of Janelle's movements the puzzle can't be completed."

I agree. And I think you'd be hard pressed to find much disagreement on this board about what you have just said.
Problem is ... how do we obtain the necessary information. I would think LE does in fact have it, even if they're not using it.
I sometimes think we're way ahead of current LE in putting pieces of the puzzle together, despite the fact that we have so little information to go on. It's like the wrong people have the right info. And I don't know how to correct that. Frustrating!
