Hi Agatha! Much appreciated. I think if this unsub is ever caught we will all be surprised at what he looks like.As for Oscar, it's funny. When something like this happens many, many stories start coming out. After having spoken to some of his friends and acquaintances it would appear that Oscar was not what his public image portrayed him to be. Stories have emerged of violence, bad associations, drugs and debauchery.
Quite frankly, I'm beginning to believe that in order to excel in sports certain individuals develop some sociopathic tendencies, i.e. Lance Armstrong.
As a practising advocate (lawyer) I can say without compunction that Oscar's lawyers did not do him justice in his bail application.
As opposed to venturing as far away from the merits of the matter, which is what they should have done, they did the opposite. Now the State has an affidavit to which Oscar is confined to wherein he admits to having committed murder on HIS OWN VERSION!!
He's definitely going to prison for a long time.
As far as I am concerned it couldn't happen to a nicer guy :-)
By the way, at the risk of sounding cruel, and it isn't meant to be at all, just an opinion, it seems that people looked at him as a heroic underdog that was given so much credit for overcoming his adversity. However, I feel he had an unfair advantage. It isn't taking away from anyone who overcomes adversity and excels, that is to be applauded, but just speaking in terms of fairness in a competition, it seems to me that he had an unfair advantage.
Back to the idea of hero worship. I worship real heros, those who risk their lives for others, not athletes. We keep hearing over here how a female rape victim is bullied, threatened etc. when she comes forth to accuse the local football hero. It seems women have to be prepared for the rath of the school/town/etc. to dare accuse a local "athletic hero". I also know that the accuser could be a liar and the athlete is innocent. I would remain neutral and not immediately jump to the defense of either party, but that isn't the way things have been seeming to work over here in so many cases I have read about. The woman is victimized again by the public sometimes with very tragic consequences.
