Gotta tell you, nick ... here's the picture that emerges of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office >>>
They neither sought nor wanted help in the EAR crime spree in the late 1970s. They claim that there was a lack of communication/cooperation among the various agencies and jurisdictions, which they claim is why the guy was never caught.
That excuse rings hollow >>> apparently, it was Sacramento County that did-not-want any communication with or cooperation from any other jurisdiction or agency. Nor-do-they-want-it-now!
Examples of LE behavior that appear to go against the above view can be explained by motivations that align more closely with selfish expediency and subterfuge.
Given responses from the SCSD in the recent past, their refusal to include Southern California in their 2016 press conference, their humiliation of one of our poster researchers, their destruction of EAR evidence despite Shelby's claim that from the beginning they suspected the EAR in the murder of the Maggiores, all the contradictions their various detectives have chaotically asserted through the years, their blatant efforts to control media narrative of this case (and there's a current example of that which is not publicly known), their attempts to control the flow of information to the general public through the use of gatekeepers and other tools ... I don't see incompetence here.
I see manipulation.
That's the impression I get from them, and that impression is based on their behavior over a long span of time.
Manipulation is not what one should be seeing if the reason the EAR was never identified was simple LE incompetence.
Nick's comment that ...
my understanding is Sac County Sheriff did not ask for help from AG office
