The producer and interviewer thanked him and showed a great appreciation for his honesty and willingness to do the interview.

The segment never aired. We were never told why or given an apology. That hurt Dave as much as anything he could have imagined and we stopped all media communication. It's important to me to relay the human side of my brother and what lingering effects can have over time.

I don't know who "officer Jerry" is, please provide more information and I'll research as best I can and get back to you.

Did your brother ever or any of his neighbors have Terminix Pest Control service, or notice a truck from the company parked around the neighborhood?

Jerry Head was an officer with IPD who was a regular around the notorious Avila family in Newport Beach.  He openly snorted cocaine while partying with Joe Avila and others at Joe's restaurant on the Back Bay.  There is a Kenji Gallo thread on the board that discusses Jerry, who retired immediately when the book Breakshot by Kenny Gallo was published.  Take most of the Avila background with a grain of salt if you read the book. Kenji was a fed snitch and a cocky wannabe as to the Colombian Cartel.  

I have undercover background as to the Avilas, was out by the time Kenji showed up as a green kid who got turned to save himself.

I lived just down Southwood from Manuela, had the same calls, burglaries (small items), then doubled back to my house one day because I had noticed a male in a Terminix truck parked behind house three times.  In the time (3 minutes) that it took me to turn on Yale and come back around, he was already in my backyard and had pried open the glass door.

IPD let him loose. His story was that he mixed up addresses and gave a neighbor's address. I checked, no service at that address. Called Terminix, the manager gave me his name and I tracked him to a Garden Grove trailer park, only he was living in a one person towable bluish green flat paint trailer with about six locks on the front.  IPD refused to even take the information from me.

My second encounter was when a pet alerted me to something downstairs. I pulled my gun on him as he came through the glass door. He turned, ran and jumped my wood fence. 

My third known encounter was when I came home with my kid and as we walked into the family room/kitchen I first saw two perfectly imprinted boot prints just inside the glass door. I stood in them and locked the glass door. He was a 9 1/2 men's shoe. 

I got a gun and searched the rest of the house. He may have been there when we arrived and started in, or was there earlier and got spooked. 

I have asked the board if anyone could find out if David, his neighbors or the Cruz family or their neighbors had Terminix service or remember seeing the truck. If there is any chance you can follow up on that, it may provide a link with my circumstance.

I believe there is a way to read all comments made by a member on the board. Drifter may be the resource for that, which would give you a quick overview.

I would liked to have cut his heavily padlocked trailer door, frame and all out with a chainsaw and set it to the side and watched the expression on his face when he returned home to his trailer.

you know who this poster its is?justfordavid it s his name,this it s is what he posted  It always frustrated David that the crime scene was walked through by so many and not kept sterile. His brother was an officer in another coty and told him allot of mistakes were made at the crime scene. I wish I could be more specific. It was a stressful time and some things I just do not remember.



I agree the time spent on David could have gone along way to looking for another person. Although I have to say there were a few investigators that didn't buy into the David theory and went above and beyond to investigate and the city spent allot of money. Then again the reputation of Irvine as a safe community was at risk.



I still wonder why EAR/ON just disappeared. Was it getting too hot, too many near misses in getting caught, had he established a name and found a way to satisfy himself with his fame, notoriety and the tokens he took? The common theme of him being dead, I have a hard time with. I have not studied, as many of you have, are there any other area's in the US where the same type of crimes have been committed? Just wondering.

This is not the kind of attention or scrutiny my brother, or anyone remotely related to us, ever would have wanted. I understand Drifter's reply and it's meaning. Without direct knowledge and first hand accounts I suppose all that may be left is speculation. Throughout the years and many different think-tank forums such as this one, the same threads and questions seem to appear. For some reason or another the cloud of suspicion always seemed to circle back to Dave's possible knowledge or involvement (even after being completely cleared via DNA) and the surrounding neighbors (I knew a few personally) I can certainly understand but nothing can be farther from the truth.

Maybe I feel it's my responsibility to keep defending Dave, his marriage and life with Manuela and his reputation I'm not sure but I'll try to help and keep the direction to where it should be. This may also be a little bit of therapy for me as I spent so much time with Dave and running interference for him with all of the media attention he received but never wanted or deserved, that took a huge toll on him believe me.

I'm not sure why Manuela's family dog has received so much attention but it is important to mention for final closure. I admit I questioned what would have happened, if anything, had he have been with her that night. Dave and I briefly discussed why he wasn't there while he was in the hospital but I'm not at liberty to give exact details but please know it was a very innocent and reasonable reason that no one would have, or should question.

Manuela's parents lived about 1.5 miles away, also in Irvine. They had, and this is no exaggeration, the largest German Shepherd I have ever seen and I have been around police dogs my entire law enforcement career. I believe his name was Tassos or similar, he had to weigh 115lbs. minimum. It wasn't uncommon for Dave and Manuela to have the dog at their home several times a week and over night which wasn't uncommon at all. Since her parents were so close, Dave & Manuela would sometimes pick him up and bring him over just for a few hours to run around and get some exercise. I spent time with Tassos and he was a very gentle and loving dog, but he was fiercely dedicated to Manuela which made perfect sense.

I'd like to think things would have been different had their dog been with Manuela, but he wasn't. It wasn't by design or suspicious in nature, he simply wasn't there.

Connected with that was Dave's never ending struggle with "Survivor's Remorse". He said many times that had he been home things would have been different and he struggled every day with that possibility. We'll never know what would have happened but based on the other homicides involving the couples I'm afraid we may have had 2 funerals instead of just one but thankfully we'll never have to confront that.

Thanks again and I appreciate the opportunity to help clear up some misconceptions, I can tell there is a very deep desire here to try and figure this all out and help identify the suspect once and for all, which is what we all want.

I think he had me and a number of my girlfriends who were always by my house in his sights. My kitchen phone would ring when we were in the jacuzzi and while a "Breather" was on the other end, we'd pass the phone around making fun of him. 

Interestingly, the specific insults regarding having a small d~•k and possibly no balls, much less lousy skills at trying to be a "Breather", may have been right on target. Lol.

I didn't try to take a photo while I was trying to arrest and hold him for IPD. That would be a novel approach....would you please stand right there while I get my camera?

I'm not sure who you are Claudius, one thing I do know is I'm not accustomed to having people put words into my mouth, especially when it refers to any conversations I had with my brother about this investigation. I don't remember you or anyone else being present when we talked about this. Unless you are willing to identify yourself and give specifics regarding how you knew Dave and what he said to you, I'd leave it alone.

Maybe I made a mistake here, I'm sorry for creating more questions than being able to help with understandings of what my brother went through but for the record, I never criticized Irvine PD or the OCSD for the way the crime scene was handled. Cops don't do that to one another.

this is what he post::Hello my name is justfordavid. I hesitate to say who I am because of fear. Fear that he, aka EAR ONS GSK, Bedroom Basher will come back. I am trying to overcome that fear and be of some possible help since David is not here. There are allot of theory's that I can see while reading through the treads. I may be able to clear up some of the questions. It looks like David had an issue with this page. I just want to help to find a killer. I was very close to David when the murder happened and after. I know many things he told me and I met the original Detective Ron Veach. I know first hand what David went through and how it ruined his life. Much more than has been stated. The house was broken into just before it was put up for sale. There were prints going in. The alarm scared the person away. I will do some more reading of the threads to see what has been revealed. Some of the books look like good ones to read. I have tried to forget but have never been able to move on knowing how David loved her and how it destroyed him. Thank you all for your investigations.

Imagine how I felt, not having read any post, when I joined the board and posted the incident, then read about paint chips. I keep asking: there's a holdback on the paint being for auto body work?

Still feeling the outrage of the fact that I was two blocks from Manuela and no one in our neighborhood knew about her death or Janelle's.  The City of Irvine failed us at every level.

Even if Terminixman isn't the ONS, the fact that they let him go, failed to investigate and refused to take the information when I investigated him, speaks volumes about IPD.  However, there are too many correlations between what happened at my home and the ONS cases to ignore the possibility that Terminixman IS the ONS.
