Hey all, first time poster but i've read plenty on this board.
I used to post on the Crime and Justice Forums, specifically on the subject of BTK. My username is mentioned in Robert Beatties BTK book Nightmare in Witchita.
Not sure if its been mentioned before, although i'm certainly sure its an obvious notion but just thought id share it and see what discussion comes of it.
During EAR's aborted attack in Danville on 05 July 1979, in which the husband spotted EAR donning his ski-mask and gave chase, aswell as the Goleta incident on 1 October 1979, in which both of the victims managed to escape, i can only assume EAR/ONS was incensed by both these escapes of his intended victims.
I have read that during his next attack, on Robert Offerman and Debra Manning, that Offerman apparently broke free of his bonds and lunged at ONS. Its safe to assume that ONS didn't want another Danville/Goleta, so he killed Offerman there and then. This would mean Manning's fate is sealed also.
Does anyone believe that he had no intention of killing, but it merely happened due to resistance from Offerman?
I believe he brought the white dog to the residence for that added control element, but even that didn't deter resistance.
Perhaps he planned to continue with raping his female victims, until this one, when he realised he could control the male better by killing him first, thus devoting all his undisturbed time on the still living female.
Regards
It would be interesting to hear what John Simonis, Dennis Rabbitt, Ronnie Shelton, Joe Thompson, and Delroy Grant would have to say about our offender.
Us 'normal' folk spend years wondering, theorising and obsessing about this case, but these guys would straight away probably explain half of the things EAR did as if they were the most obvious things in the world.
