In particular, amphetamines are said to change body odor to a "chemical smell" or a smell that resembles ammonia. Some search results: www.google.com/search?q=speed+amphetamine+body+odor#safe=off&q=amphetamines+body+odor

Everyone's physiology is different, of course, so the degree to which the odor is present will vary. From my experience, no one would describe me as having a very foul odor. Or even a perceptible odor. I can smell it though.
Were there ever any reports of EAR being sweaty? Cause if not, I doubt amphetamines would be the culprit. I would think that a head of nasty unwashed hair may be the real cause. Especially if he's been wearing a balaclava. Those on the grip of mania often forego the niceties society demands such as bathing. Eating also becomes an afterthought. The emotionally charged outbursts and erratic behavior he exhibited during the attacks also points to mania.
I once worked with an older gentleman who smelled absolutely foul. He was extremely kind, good-natured, very well put together, and(most notably) clean. You could smell him coming from a mile away. Just really bad. The only other detail I can remember which I've always thought may have contributed to the odor is that he drank a gallon of milk everyday. Seriously. A gallon of whole milk. How can a person do that? I don't think I've even had whole milk more than once or twice in my life.
