Which specific Rancho Cordova attack are you talking about? What was its date?

The attack I am thinking of is 3/18/77 Benny Way in Rancho Cordova. He had not attacked in RC in the 5 months before that, and instead had been in other areas of Sac county,yet he somehow had chosen to go back to RC just on the day her parents were gone. This is the girl that worked at KFC. He would not strike again in RC until 2 years later on 3/20/79 on Filmore Ln and would never strike in RC again. This last attack in RC was in a part of RC not ever attacked by EAR. I think it was very close to that 7-11 that they had staked out. It came after EAR had been attacking in Danville, San Jose, Concord,etc...This to me seems like a homecoming or something different. These 2 last attacks in RC to me, seem liked attacks of opportunity as opposed to victims of stalking. Example, 3/18/77...perhaps, he knew their family, worked with them etc, and knew the parents would be away. These last 2 attacks in RC just stand out as opposed to his other RC attacks

According to HAP she told him herself:


March 18th, 1977
(HAP: The victim answered the phone. The male voice on the other end, which she did not recognize, identified himself as a roofer and wanted to speak with her father. She told the man that her parents were out of town for the weekend and hung up the phone. Later she asked her father if he had expected such a call, and he said he had not.)

Good info thanks. Maybe the call was to verify that they were gone
