If Q picked out the needle in the haystack and if by some miracle the DNA is a hit. He deserves credit for being the outsider who got it right and searching for the right suspect. It will just be so strange coming from a Big Foot hunter.
I can't help but feel that a lot of the hate Q gets is because people feel possessive about their particular POIs, and are mad that he draws different conclusions to them. There are too many people that consider themselves "gatekeepers" or "experts" in this case who have a territorial mindset, and will engage in outright slander and lies when someone disagrees with them. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with Q's conclusions or argumentation, but dishonestly referring to him as a "bigfoot hunter" is just base and superficial nonsense, and deserves only contempt.
I agree with your comments about gatekeepers.
Two things about Q that bother me. First, it would be helpful if he could be a bit more humble. If he really has the inside track on who the EAR is, there is no reason to flaunt that or brag about his website. The simple fact of his correctness about EAR would be quite enough to impress his readers.
Second, I still maintain that Q's research is basically flawed as a result of discounting the crimes of the Original Night Stalker in southern California.
The idea that the EAR commuted to southern California from up north is a stretch, to put it mildly. There are all kinds of reasons why that theory doesn't fly. Rather than research the ONS crimes, Q sluffs them off as unimportant, and concludes without evidence that the EAR commuted, then refuses to entertain opposing points of view. Q seriously needs to acknowledge the southern California murders and explain why he doesn't take them seriously, insofar as solving the case.
I have nothing personally against Quester. He has done a lot of research on the EAR. And there is a tendency for posters to "pile on", when posters sense that someone or someone's theories are not popular.
Posters can continue to critique Q and his theories. But posters would be wise to refrain from making derogatory personal comments about Quester, which is against forum policy.
