The problem is that people are too easily pleased. They are impressed with flashing lights and loud noises. Freaking comic books, man. Who cares? If that is your thing, just please stop. Take a break.
You know, I've said it all before, but there are very few adults left in society. It's all comic books, video games, t-shirts, ball caps, short pants, flip flops, piercings, tattoos, etc... Everyone is guided by emotion and they act upon it far too quickly. The death of thought. Class and dignity bit the dust when men stopped wearing a coat and tie every time they left the house.
We get the world we deserve. We reap what we sow. If 90% of us are children emotionally then the media will cater to that demographic. If a film about Ted Bundy appeals to said demographic, it will be made. If the Kardashians are a thing, it is because society made it a thing. It is a fake plastic culture. It would not exist if people were not tuning in or clicking those links.
No one wants to be challenged or intellectually stimulated. They refuse to think critically or be even slightly analytical. Also, people seem to like being angry, it satisfies them.
Angry and ill-informed slobs. That's America everybody!! Whoo!!
However, as you say, nothing is more destructive than ideas.
