A pedophile never has sex with adults? Pedophiles who molest kids, can also have relations and sex with adults. Many have kids themselves and are married.
And yes, there are offenders who attack pre-pubescent and physically mature victims. However, most pedophiles stick to a type, just as most serial rapists who assault mature females stick to a type.
The EAR may indeed have sexually assaulted children at some point, but not in any of the documented crimes. And he certainly had the opportunity to. He did assault very young victims who were below the age of consent, but I believe that they were sexually mature in the sense that they were post-pubescent.
I definitely would not disregard ths attack as EAR just because of possible "sexual perversions" visited on a small child, but it is something to think about. I would be curious to know who the "target" was — that is, who did the offender in this case focus most of his attention on. It is upsetting to learn about the sexual assault of any person (although the majority of rape victims in the US are actually adult men, strangely enough, and the public seems pretty ambivalent about prison rape and its devastating effects on the victims. Seems like people tend to think that if they're in prison, they deserve to be raped. Prison rape jokes are so common, they've become socially acceptable. What a strange double-standard)l and especially upsetting to learn about the sexual assault of a child. But in this case, I would be curious to know what kinds of "sexual perversions" the young victim endured in order to get a better sense of whether or not this may have been EAR.
Finally, it seemse like this assault was against several members of a family, including adults and children. EAR's first victims were lone females, then two young females home alone, then a mother with young two daughters, and so on. The first known assault in Rancho seems to be rather clumsy. Almost like he was testing himself. He progressed from there. After the botched assault back in Rancho, he targetted a lone female in what seems to be an opportunistic attack, employing a brutal sucker punch that tells me he was somewhat more cautious after his encounter with the tough mama bear back in Rancho.
As for Eva Taylor, there are some things about that crime that indicate it may have been an early EAR assault, but there are just as many things that indicate it probably wasn't. I'm very much on the fence about the Eva Taylor murder. The age of the victim and her murder are two anomolies that are not easy to explain. While some offenders do kill early on, then refrain from killing victims for some time, an analysis of known serial killers and rapists shows that an overwhelming number of them continue to kill once they kill the first time. EAR was no different in this regard. He escalated to murder and didn't look back. Bobby Joe Long is a serial rapist/killer who I was recently researching who is emblematic of this type of offender. He committed at least fifty rapes by responding to classified ads, but when he started murdering, he kept at it. His final victim — the one he let live and who ultimately got him caught — was extremely brave and, sad as it is, used her knowledge from being a victim of chuldhood sexual abuse to placate Long and convince him that she wanted to be in a romantic relationship with him. This saved her life, and she is now a police officer, I believe.
Anyways, all this talk of pedofilia and rape is getting me down. This case really is not good for the soul.
I agree with you cityofchill. Remember rape, and pedophilia are two completely different acts, or terms. A pedophile doesn't necessarily "rape" children. I mean he/she trys and befriends them, coerces, or usally bribes them some way. They are basically in love with them in their twisted way, messed up minds. A child may consent, but a child can not understand, even a teen doesn't realize what the older perp is up to.
Rape is a act of power, aggression, force and hate.
Also, that is just a newspaper article not a police report. Both can have missing, distorted and/or wrong facts, but news papers, writters, the media can really mess up facts about a situation that unfolded. I've read about a situation and had witnessed it myself, and alot of the times the facts are not correct, not all but some. Just saying.
