Long time lurker.. First time poster! I think there's a slight variation from the facts here. From what I've read / listened to Detective Bill McGowen was unwilling to shoot at the VR as he was under the impression that the VR was a teen, so he went in to this stakeout expecting a teen rather than seeing a teen and not firing. Whether or not he got a good enough look at the person to correctly estimate his age is not known to me. I think it's an important difference though as it means McGowen is not providing an age for the VR in this encounter, well not by not shooting anyway.
McGowen was two feet away with his flash light in the VR's face. How much of a better look could he get?
Funny seeing Drifter's post in here. He obviously has no idea about the case but continually tries to push the Peter Burgess narrative.
