I havn't posted on the forum for some time but just wanted to add my 2 cents. My uncle, who passed away 5 years ago, was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran who was in the army-he was part of one of the specialized units. And please, before anyone asks-no he was not EARONS lol. I just wanted to add that he too (my uncle) grew up in a rural area where the use of all types of firearms were considered just part of life. He was always an excellent shot & very proficient-in fact his special skills were used by the army in Vietnam. My uncle came back a changed man-he had PTSD and never talked about specifics, but only said "in Vietnam, I've seen the worst humanity has to offer". My point is, if EARONS did go to Vietnam, has anyone considered what type of man he may have come back as? It may be he came back with a whole skill set he learned while in Vietnam but that he used but through the prism of PTSD or any psychological trauma which may have led him to be a facsimile of the miltary warrior he was in Vietnam which could lead to an extremely proficient, & at the same time, "odd" military vet. The "he wasn't in the military" school seems to think that if he were a military man EARONS wouldn't have "done this" or "done that". My personal opinion is that of course he could have been a young man who went to Vietnam (my uncle joined before he was even 18) and learned any number of skill sets he could later use as EARONS-my thought is that Vietnam could have drastically altered the way he thought/behaved & upon his return he may not have been a typical "vet returning from Vietnam"; his entire skill set could have been skewed by any PTSD/psychological trauma or issues which when put together gives some of the odd mix of behaviors EARONS seems to possess (like leaving half naked, but spending hours/days/weeks stalking out new victims)-he seems extraordinarily disciplined, but "off" at the same time.
This probably makes no sense so I am going to wrap my train of thought up...It's almost like as much as I loathe to give EARONS ANY credit being he is a monster, EARONS had at least some skill set that allowed him to find victims who were home alone/parents or husbands gone-it seems as tho he was disciplined, but at the same time something about his behavior (eating/ransacking/rummaging/walking down the street half-naked, etc) is just askew. I dont know if EARONS was military-none of us do to be honest because he has yet to be caught, but just throwing my 2 cents in.
The thing that is being discounted is the fact that he was able to remain calm in life and death situations by people who don't want to admit that the EAR may have been trained by the government for this. His precision, cruelty and evasiveness give the theory legs. He was an adequate shot, and if you believe all of the discussed shootings were actually him, he was an adequate shot in situations that most people couldn't be.
