A thief always steals, he was a rapist, sadist and murderer and he left many valuables behind including $1,000 in cash on the kitchen counter.
Many rapists and murders steal mementos of their crimes to relive them.
Personally, I feel the only thing that makes sense for stealing random coins and piggy banks is coin collecting.
June 5, 1978, Modesto $1500 seems to be an anomaly.
October 7, 1978, attack where he stole the china and silverware and appliances stands out as very unusual. Was he setting up housekeeping or were some or all of these items gifts for mommy? They never found any items he fenced. Burglars don't usually take heavy, unwieldy, easily broken dishes as loot. (How I hope they play up this china in future broadcasts on t.v. and magazines because I think the china could be recognized by someone that might turn him in.)
The March 20, 1979, attack where he returned for one final Rancho Cordova attack and took $3,000 in jewelry is very interesting. I wonder if it was one single piece of expensive jewelry worth $3,000 and the value didn't interest him, just it's value to him as a memento? but what interests me more is why he was back again in Rancho Cordova or did he ever leave? Was he traveling to CCC to throw LE off his trail?
I do not believe he ever left. I believe 100% with all my heart that it was him at the Coloma rd convenient store (the site of the failed LE stakeout). I believe he could not have lived more than a half mile of that location
(Side note for those that are confused to the numbering like I was: I had them numbered like Winters does, but it was pointed out to me that the attack I had as #43, Filmore, Rancho Cordova is #44. I was told that is because two girls were raped on Jan 28, 1978, making that #29 and #30. I questioned why #2 with the two sisters in Carmichael was not counted as #2 & #3 and was reminded because only one sister was raped in that attack.)
