Interesting thread! Here's my two cents:
- He was a born socio/psychopath. Has never honestly cared about others.
- He may have been adopted.
- He needed to IMPRESS. Was a show-off. Very arrogant and believed himself to be superior to others, but needed to prove it, as he saw attention given to others instead of himself as a threat. He felt he was in competition for
the recognition he believed he deserved as a superior being.
- Angered easily and before he learned to control it he would probably have tantrums. He would be especially angered by others receiving recognition or attention. (Later he would APPEAR to be proud of others accomplishments).
- His arrogant and selfish behaviour may have caused him to lose friends as a child, but he may have learned how to make friends and influence those around him as he matured.
- VERY manipulative from a very early age.
- VERY charming from a very early age and used charm as a major tool in manipulating others, getting his way, and being in control of the situation, regardless of what the situation might be.
- May have felt that he did not get the recognition he believed he deserved from his parents, teachers, and peers.
- Would intentionally "throw others under the bus," sabotage other's efforts, and take credit when he did not earn it.
- Was probably the leader of a small group of friends he could easily manipulate and, at times, get them to do some of his dirty work and even to take the fall if they were caught.
- Made great efforts to appear helpful to others, ALL FOR THE SAKE OF APPEARANCE. He learned that he could earn the trust and respect of others this way, leading to the gaining of power, (which he could abuse), and feeding his ego.
- Probably had sibling(s).
- If they were younger, he probably abused them in various ways, including "lording it over them" in order to prove to himself and his victims that he is superior.
- If they were older he may have felt somewhat insignificant and in more competition with them.
Having siblings or other children around, especially younger ones, essentially provided him with the ability to practice and learn all the skills basic to covering his secretive behaviours and eventually become proficient in "passing" as a
normal or highly regarded individual in society.
- Was raised in a well-to-do or middle class home.
- Parents had rigid expectations of their children's behaviour, BUT,
- Parents may have doted on him, treating him like a "Golden Boy." He could do no wrong. (I strongly believe this).
- Early crimes committed near home.
- Lived or worked near the crimes.
- Average to above average intelligence, (possibly with some learning disability).
- Is OCD and a very organized perfectionistic individual.
- May have been caught peeping and had conversations with LE and his parents, but no record.
- Probably graduated from high school.
- Participated in track, biking, and triathlons.
- Had a large supply of excuses to explain his disappearances while he was out stalking and committing crimes.
- A compulsive liar. (combined with a large supply of excuses for his whereabouts, I think if those who knew him during his crime spree were to get together and discuss his behaviours at the time, it would become evident that he was
telling everyone a different story as to where he was and what he was doing).
- Did not have a girlfriend during his spree, unless it was a made-up/long distance relationship. (Gives him an excuse for being away).
- May have told stories of brave or heroic actions he had engaged in, although these would be exaggerated or fantasies, or things he heard or read about done by others.
- He was at home enough and told convincing lies to his family so they provided him with much of the money he needed.
- He probably felt betrayed by his mother for giving attention to others, probably sisters, that he felt belonged to him. He felt badly cheated.
- He MAY have been sexually abused, perhaps by his mother.
- Was compelled by family and for social reasons to settle down, get married, start a family, so the five year hiatus.
- Subsequently, changed MO and travels when committing crimes.
- Still has his trophies hidden somewhere and visits them and the sites of his crimes.
- Is a respected member of society, and may even be a prominent member.
- Lurks on this and other sites about his crimes, and the crimes of others.
- Is proud of his successful crime spree and arrogant enough to sometimes engage in conversations with acquaintances about it, (not family or old friends), making himself look like an expert armchair sleuth, but giving away nothing to
connect himself to the crimes.
