Here's my mental portrait of him. Some are more grounded than others, and some are just strong hunches I have:1. Raised by a single mother, whom he loved & whose attention he fought for. She was both absent from his life and domineering;
2. During the rapes, he worked temporary, part-time, construction jobs. He was probably financially supported by gifts from family during this period (be it an inheritance or just regular checks);
3. He continued to work in the construction, community development & planning industry as he grew older. His responsibility increased to the point he was traveling up & down the coast on projects;
4. He became familiar with the Goleta, Dana Point, Irvine, and Ventura communities while he was visiting them (either while on business or for pleasure). He never lived in those places for an extended time, if at all;
5. He lived near Rancho Cordova during the rapes, and continued living in the Sacramento area throughout the entire crime series;
6. On several occasions, he approached & interacted with his victims in-person prior to their attacks;
7. He was likely was not very successful with the ladies as an adolescent, or even into his early twenties, due to his social in-adeptness; but blossomed as he became older and more socially adept;
8. He likely has a family now and decent professional reputation. He wants to leave the past in the past;
9. People who know him well will likely describe him as very emotional. Possibly even use words like "caring";
10. He possibly had a real mild form of some childhood development disorder, like Aspergers
Number 10 might seem like it comes out of left-field, and I'm not remotely qualified to make this diagnosis, but I base it on his repetitive obsessive behaviors, awkward social interactions, verbal tics and word choices.
1. I think his parents were married, educated, successful, methodical, and analytical people in an upper middle-class neighborhood.
2. I think his parents taught EAR and his siblings (which I think he has) these successful traits and I don't think he picked them up out of the blue.
3. I think that EAR may have been born and raised in Los Angeles County, a county that he seemed to bypass in his GSK/ONS murders. He attacked in the counties next to L.A. County, Ventura to the north and Orange to the south, as well as Santa Barbara County.
4. I think that EAR was a college student, perhaps enrolled in university (like U.C. Santa Cruz). He went as far south as San Jose, CA to rape two women but he didn't go over Highway 17 to rape women in Santa Cruz County.
5. I don't think that EAR/GSK/ONS lived in any of the communities where he attacked. I think he was a commuter rapist and he commuted to Sacramento from his home-base, another county.
6. EAR/ONS/GSK attacked where there are three University of California universities: U.C. Davis, U.C. Santa Barbara, and U.C. Irvine. I don't think that was a mistake on his part, but intentional.
7. I think that EAR was a mountain climber and rock climber from the description of his muscles and climbing abilities, as well as his well-honed knot-tying abilities.
8. I think that EAR was/is a backpacker.
9. I think that EAR chose to rape in Modesto because he was going to/from Yosemite National Forest for mountain climbing/rock climbing and Modesto is the common way to get to Yosemite.
10. I think that EAR is methodical with maps and knows how to study them in detail.
11. I think EAR is comfortable with the outdoors and hardships, and likes it.
12. I think that EAR is probably an amateur photographer since he stole good photography equipment from some victims' homes.
