They took items for value to sell or keep or trade the cases that I have tried to link to EAR  were not the type of crimes that a traditional burglar would be thought of as committing. The differences in how a thief enters and removes property and the type of property they take and even things they don't take tell a story of an offender. There were even some cases where it appeared the offender was attempting to conceal the fact he had been inside the home at all. Those were the types of things I was looking for when searching there was no doubt a burglary problem that is why the ADEPT program was started but the ones I attribute to EAR pre-sexual assault were not "normal burglaries."

I don't think he was part of a ring because one of them would have turned on him in a second to save their own skin when they were caught. But anything is possible and you make a good point by asking the question.

I agree. I think he probably despised other "common" criminals and wanted nothing to do with them. I'm sure he thought they were stupid neanderthal thugs who had to steal to get their money, while he was smart enough to lead a comfortable, "normal," middle-class suburban life--all while committing crazier, infinitely worse crimes than most of them could probably imagine. ("These a-holes think they're tough? Watch this...") I think more than anything he enjoyed the art of perfecting his double life--his goal was to be as ridiculously normal on the outside as possible while being as disgustingly evil as he could on the inside. THAT was the thrill. How much could he get away with, right under the rest of humanity's stupid noses?

I think he did despise other criminals as well. I think he considered himself to be different from others better and not a "bad guy" at all. In support of this argument the shotgun incident where he seemed to be daring the BF to reach for the shotgun that had already been unloaded because he might have been toying with the idea of murder but he wanted it to appear he was defending himself after all the man was reaching for a weapon and he being the good guy would have to defend himself.

He feared any physical confrontation with males and his sense of fragility bothered him so much that he intentionally targeted couples to emasculate them and feel a sense of power. Seriously, how massively damaged does someone have to be to not only spend prime years of their life as a full time prowler/cat burglar/stalker/rapist but to then choose women who are not only taken by but often in bed with another man??

Maybe but we can only assume he knew it was small did he know he was small? Only he would know I don't want to speak for women but is that something they say to men they are intimate with?

The more I look at the 1973 activities that occurred around EAR victim #6 the more convinced I become of the importance of her to EAR. The events in 1973, in my opinion, were the same offender who would become known as EAR in 1976. The teenage victim was most differently being stalked and selected as a sexual assault victim of EAR he was peeping and breaking into her families home and cars gathering items that he could feel closer to the victim EAR was not yet ready to commit to a sexual assault but was working up to it. He took items that would remind him of the time he spends inside the family home and his victim's bedroom in particular. There were many others in the same neighborhood that were also being stalked and reported prowling and other suspicious behavior to LE. The burglaries were all of a sexual orientation due to the passing over of valuables and usual items that most other burglars would take from homes. There were many that went unreported until after a neighborhood canvas was conducted by the ADEPT Sheriff's team following the strange burglary activities much like when the EAR task force would canvas after an EAR sexual assault. There were many things that were occurring in 1973-1976 just like after 1976 that were not uncovered or reported until LE knocked on doors in the area of an event and were told by residents about suspicious things happening in and around their homes.

The incidents were eerily similar to EAR series of crimes with tale tell signs being seen but not understood by LE or the public at that time. ADEPT was on the right track during this time period and knew they had a serial offender that had odd and usual behaviors within the homes of teenagers and young women there are report supplements that support that fact they knew they had someone who may have been building up and escalating his behaviors and they were very actively searching for him.

If this was EAR in pre-sexual assault mode and then he located this same teenager assaulted her years later it may help explain more if we can understand the connection. I'm inclined to think that the most straightforward explanation is the most likely --- they both lived in the same small area of RC and both attended the same HS.  

Both those factors would allow for EAR to be aware of the victim without ever having a direct connection to her.

It makes sense that a good percentage of his stalking of future and potential vics would be out in thee open. Even known through casual connections, (My opinion of why a mask in the fist place.) Not mentioned a lot, but I'm hopeful investigated, sports team associations of brothers or friends, community organization. Boy Scouts and the like, Naval Sea Cadets and their counter parts in Air Force,  Coast Guard, ROTC. YMCA, etc. One first covets what one first sees, a plotting, intelligent psychopath keeps internal lists. Usually coherent to their personal psychopathy. 
In addition, he was athletic, he would've been known by his neighbors, coaches as such but he didn't play sports. He was not a team player. He reserved his prowess for his secret activities.

This is without adding the other reports I have seen from the Sheriff's Department in and around the same time period that could be categorized as EAR type of activity. I believe this shows compelling evidence EAR was in Rancho during the time frame VR was active.

As anyone who has read my posts, I hunt EAR, VR, and GSK as three separate offenders it is just my opinion I do it because I don't want to combine evidence from the three cases and overlook any items that may be important to an individual case. It's my choice until I see something that convinces me otherwise.


Yes I agree about the Dawes incident..I think he was RC based and probably at HS Student around that time.

I am looking at an idea that the EAR may have been two brothers who were doing this together..that would match the descriptions of the Maggiore murders..the two suspects looked very much alike.  What if one brother is driving the getaway car, keeping a lookout.   That would also account for the multiple vehicles.  Then one brother said he was done and the other went on to become the ONS.

We don't, but then again, why did he have no pants on for attacks 1&3 right in the same location essentially, and walked calmly(not ran)from the scene,but in attack #2 in Carmichael, he had pants on and drove from the scene? It could be an indication he lived close by to attacks 1&3 and simply walked into his home if he lived close
