FYI - I just rewatched the part where Holes is talking about the Italian guy at the meeting incident. Here's Holes' quote:
"Tells us the offender was in that audience and he saw what this man did and what this man said, and said you know what, I'll show you."
I also looked at the clips of the audience they showed and didn't see any cameras/press, but they only showed brief clips, and who knows if the meeting they showed visuals of was the actual meeting where this statement took place.
I'm still not 100% convinced that EAR was physically there, I think it really hinges upon what the greater "audience" was. Was the audience just the audience who was there physically? Did EAR have eyes & ears in the form of a friend/accomplice in the audience? Did EAR hear about it in the press (either on TV or in print)? I'm not sure.
I will remind people that "back in the day" (during that era), it was a common newspaper practice to publish the names and home addresses of anyone who spoke about anything, had a relative who was murdered, etc. Who knows if some newspaper in Sacramento printed the Italian guy's name and address.
Even with just his name being heard through the grapevine (peoples' conversations), it would have been easy for EAR to track his information in the telephone book. The fact that EAR attacked the couple months later tells me that the Italian man and his wife weren't a high priority on EAR's "target list".
Anyhow, it was a horrible scary time and our neighborhood was getting hit left and right. My best friend at the time, lived directly across street from the Italian family. The attack may have happened 7 mos later (so maybe not priority as mentioned), but the stalking started well before the attack. My friend's mom said she saw him jumping her fence, not once, but a few times, as well as neighbors. If my memory serves me, he may have even left some evidence...again it was so long ago I cant remember what it was they found. It went on for a while, until that awful day hit with his attack.
P.S. Contrary to some things I have read, the school is not directly across the street from the home of the attack. The house was walking distance from Del Dayo, about less than .5 mile. He could have easily followed them home after meeting. Just my thoughts and intuition.
