In the Grapevine newspaper, there was an ad in the personals section that was offering a reward of $100 for arrest or conviction of anyone cutting the fence of the Natomas Orchards. The Orchards were located in Rancho Cordova and had pears among other fruits and one of them was located along the Ambassador Drive running along the American River and American River bike trail from what was called Cordova Park (now Hagan) down to Rossmore bar and Ambassador Drive. The Cordova park area is where Shelby reported in his book where they placed the burrowed Dept of Forestry game cameras and where the cement-lined ditches that EAR was thought to have used in the early first attacks in 1976. The bike trail leads from Cordova Park along the river and leads to the Natomas Orchards property that the fence cutting kept occurring. I located several reports where the fence was cut after being repaired. This is also the area of a disputed EAR attack that I believe should be placed back on the list the attack was on Ambassador Drive and the orchard is directly behind the house. The area is very similar to the Carmicheal side of the river where EAR was thought to have used the levee to watch victims except the orchard being fenced would have given him greater privacy, unlike the levee side that was open to the public. I located possible burglary type crimes in and around this area between 1973 and 1976 and they fit with the other EAR type pre-sexual assault series that LE is reporting as the "cat burglar" EAR crime series.
I believe this particular area along Ambassador Drive did not provide him with a victim pool he was satisfied with other than the single incident but I can see where he was prowling and searching along with the other Rancho area near Attacks #1,#3 etc. The fact the fence was repeatedly cut is similar to his kicking open of gates that were nailed shut by the homeowners for instance on El Reye Court in Rancho.
