As for ninja skills, how many times did this guy actually escape law enforcement or civilian pursuit at the scene of a crime? I am familiar with only three instances: 1) the bridge spotting and subsequent creek chase where he actually outran pursuing police, 2) Queen Ann attack where he was pursued by the FBI neighbor but escaped on a bike, and 3) the RM shooting where a teenager was keeping up with him hoping fences and he resorted to shooting the teen in order to escape.
Are there more?
Maggiore incident had people running about getting shot at.
He is spotted in people's gardens by the owner every 20 pages in Sudden Terror but he is usually gone before the owners get dressed and downstairs.
He was possible seen crawling along a doorway when spotted by a female driver. He ran to the driver and tried to get in, knocking on the window. She sped off. << To my mind if this is true then it shows that EAR-ONS if caught will make a jump sometimes on the person who saw them like in Maggiore.
A husband caught him putting his mask on and chased him away.
Probably many more. That was off the top of my head.
EAR is not necessarily VR or the Maggiore shooter.
Don't the other points work against the theory that EAR was a vet? He was spotted all the time!
I mean, he's crawling around someone's front lawn in the open so that a passerby from the street can easily see him. Even the most rudimentary training would certainly discourage suspiciously crawling around in the dark where people can see you.
A man yelling at him without a physical confrontation so surprises him that he literally freezes in place? Does that seem like the reaction of a trained soldier - no matter what level? I hope the VC over in the jungle didn't make loud noises.
This guy was certainly no Captain Willard.
