To me, the most obvious absentee is CBK. Here is a member who has been a member for three years, made over 100 posts including two in the week before the arrest of JJD, was last online the very day that JJD was arrested, but has not checked in once after the news that the arrest had occurred.

Now here is something creepy: he is shown as last visiting this site on April 24th at 5:47pm PST. The arrest occurred at about 5pm PST on the 24th. We know that Deangelo's computer was on in his bedroom with a towel over the screen. What if he was on this site (either active or in a minimized tab) at the exact time of his arrest? We know he was cooking a roast so he wasn't leaving his house when he stepped outside and was arrested. What if the 5:47pm time is the last minute he was online and that time is when LE turned off his computer as it was impounded as evidence?

I know that for myself, I always come here to get the breaking news on this case first. (Thanks to Morf, we got the news of the arrest before literally any other online or media source.) I cannot think of a reason why someone would be an active member here but to lose interest in the case minutes after the arrest but an hour or so before the news of the arrest broke. Unless some other tragedy befell CBK at a very curious time, I can only come to one conclusion: He was JJD.

An interesting theory. However, websites or forums either record the time you log on or off, not the date/time the computer is shut down (which doesn't automatically log a user off). Sometimes login information is also stored in a cookie, which can automatically logoff a user after a certain amount of time (like for a very busy site). But usually a site stores in a db the time you log on, not off. And websites have no way to know when a remote pc is shut down. In addition, I really doubt LE would get close to his PC that soon. A computer analyst would be called in to make a complete backup and then complete copy of the hard drive(s) before shutting it down.

I think therefore that because CBK has a 5:47 record, he is not JJD, as it seems logical he logged in, found out the JJD news, and has since not logged back in, which is evident by the absence of posts. It seems however possible that LE looked at JJD's PC first, found the EAR forum site open, and asked for the password to login while the system was still up. It's also possible LE did not arrest him until some time after 5:47, in which case this is a very good theory. Also, have you verified that the proboard server is accurately recording PST?

Well, I'm still looking for joejs89.  His only posts were when winter's book was announced on this board.  He posted that was looking forward to reading it.  Then, after morf annnounced his upcoming podcast, joejs89 posted that he was looking forward to listening to them.   

I sent joejs89 a couple of PMs. No responses.  After getting no replies, I wondered why he wouldn't want to just simply say he was not JJD and since his posts sounded genuine I don't believe he is a troll.  Shortly after JJD's arrest there was one more activity.  The poster logged on, but that was it - no posts or PMs.   I speculated it could have been LE techs looking at all his computer activity.  If it was joejs89, I would have expected a post here or a reply to my PMs

His last daughter was born in '89.

After arrest. Before I got banned as UD (and went nuts) I said CBK connection was my main reason for being on here post arrest. But because I got banned as UD (Circus as you truly state), I'll never know if he responded or attempted to.

I'm really intrigued as to if it's him, and if not, just answering the question as to if he was on here.

The notion that CBK = Creek bed killer is truly freaky.

Edit: Also, I just wanted to add that I owe the board a huge apology and I am truly sorry for the mess I made on here. For many years I was a (imo) good contributor to the board. I am however a bit bi-polar, and I stopped taking my "pill". If I don't take that pill, my frog demon takes over. Sorry again.

Just another possibility:   I think a lot of Proboard posters here --pre-arrest of JJD-- were LE "associated" by job, retirement and/or family.  It would be logical for LE to use or receive tips about a website that promotes discussion of a serial rapist/killer as perhaps an avenue to draw the offender into a discussion via potentially identifiable posts like we are discussing here.

So, when JJD was arrested, there's no need for them to be posting anymore.  Sort of a "OK, we got him. Let's move on" type of thing I'm thinking. Maybe the missing poster is one of those folks.

You guys have to remember one thing. "Last Online" is misinformed. It is not always showing correct dates.

It's possible when users change their profile to indicate they do not want to be visible as online.  So yes, it's a flawed process which gives us partial information.  We don't know if JJD, were he on here, would have been savvy enough to use the stealth option.  

As for the times shown, having installed and run several online forums I can say that the times are not exact, but are pretty good.  Most forum software will run a scan to see who is on every five to fifteen minutes, or even once an hour.  This time period can usually be set by the administrators and is where you get the information about  who is online at any given moment which generally appears at the bottom or to the side of the main page of the forum.  If a user has logged off prior to a scan, the last online time will show as the time of that scan.  So the accuracy of that information is usually only as good as whatever is set for that scan time interval. 

I don't know if ProBoards, being a free service, gives admin the option to set that time interval.  I do know that, on boards that aren't too busy, the time between scans is usually set for a longer period so that the board will look more active than it is (i.e. everyone who was logged on during the past hour will show as being online for the duration of that hour.) 

So, this information is flawed in two ways:  it won't capture anyone who has chosen not to be seen online and it won't be exact to the minute for those who did not choose it.  But it's not bad as an approximate way to look at the subset of people who did not choose to be stealthy when here.

In regards to this particular subject matter I don't see it as far fetched or obtuse for us to continue to theorize, hypothesize, stipulate, and generally continue to pontificate these different scenarios.

I don't either. I think the information, though not complete, is still worth looking at.

What intrigues me is that this particular poster never logged back in after that last scan, which clearly occurred not long after the arrest. It's quite conceivable, as someone else pointed out, that LE turned off his computer shortly before that last scan.
