Feel free to add. Again, not saying any of this stuff has been 100% established. Just saying based on what we know based off of who was identified, and early reports, that this stuff is probably more likely than not the case.

Given how old he turned out to be, the homework papers are probably not his. 
I've always felt this his crying was real. The FBI profiler indicated that it didn't fit the profile of this type of predator, but he could be bipolar and there are always exceptions to rules. 
I've always suspected that he was a cop, simply because he evaded police for so long. 

I was convinced the crying wasn’t real and that he was doing it to torment his victims further by seeming “crazy”. I still can’t comprehend what would make him call out his ex’s name and cry, yet go to such lengths to shield his identity. Yes, rampant mental illness, but he was apparently quite high functioning despite it...honestly, we may never know the truth in its entirety unless he explains these little things, which I’m unsure he will.

Having a "roast in the oven" is an old joke that people used top use as an excuse to get out of something, kind of like how "I have to stay home to wash my hair" was an excuse that women used to use to get out of going on a date with a guy, and that too turned into a joke over time. "I can't go anywhere tonight, I have a roast in the oven," that sort of thing. JJD was saying it in an attempt to be funny.

He is definitely a guy who feels strong emotions. Emotions can easily overcome logic. The problem was, we greatly overestimated how logical/methodical he was.

There was a Rolling Stone article that said he soon escalated to murder.

Yeah, quickly is after 100’s of burglaries and 50 rapes. Look at the numbers and they tell the story rather than just going down the tired tropes route.

• In the midst of the crimes, he often left then returned to his victims.
• Numerous victims reported hearing talking to himself or possibly to someone else.

Is it possible he was not only listening to his radio for signs that police had been dispatched toward his location, but possibly communicating with another officer nearby the residence keeping lookout?

I've heard stories about other officers complaining that their radios often didn't work and they had to use pay phones, but that doesn't mean that applies to all officers of the time and to all departments.

Just food for thought.

No doubt about it. Seems so obvious now.. Richard Shelby said he was definitely listening in, which is how he managed to stay one step ahead. Even the overheard "put it in the car" line could have been something he said into his police radio rather than to an accomplice. Not sure how it explains the doorbell ringing and car honking on one occasion though.. unless THAT was a cop too..

I don’t think he had an accomplice, not in the biblical sense anyway.

Think about it. What he does (or did) with these women was private between him and them. It would not be a hobby we’re others could be involved.

The only way I could ever see an accomplice helping th A guy is unwittingly. Like him giving a story about seeing his other women/girlfriend and giving him a heads up in case of trouble, but nothing direct. This was a 1-man hobby. That’s it.
