Also discussed were any legal issues about trash digging visa vi the notion that one could be charged with theft to which I pointed out that California law clearly states if you put it in the trash it’s fair takings.

I believe the OP said he was going to LE after discussion with other redditors -- apparently his incredibly strict religious background was holding him back because of the shame/guilt over porn thing, or something. You'd think aiding a murder/rape investigation would trump leftover feelings of guilt from childhood, but whatever.

You’d think! I was so mad at him. Who knows what was on those negatives! I’m sure some good citizen turned the tip in within the first five minutes.

I would use healthy skepticism when reading anything poster by non well established users either here or Reddit for a while. My guess is a majority is made up for attention.

I totally agree and usually do. I’m not as familiar with Reddit’s reliable members as I am this forum though, so I wasn’t sure about those responding to him as if he was legit. Either way his AMA certainly came back to bite him.

It contained some porn and other materials, and the kid later buried it in their yard. All speculation, but that's /r's take on the neighbors yard being dug up.

I really wouldn’t believe most things on reddit.

Suddenly a lot of people have a lot of inside contacts. I wouldn’t trust anyone but the established insiders here.

I won't link it, but interestingly, JJD's kids and grandkids are called out with affection:



"She remained close to grandchildren: [JJD's 1st kid], [JJD's 2nd kid], and [JJD's 3rd kid], while there is 7 remaining grandchildren also." [Those other 7 grandkids aren't named.]



Then, she name checks several great-grandkids, "and [JJD's only grandchild] who was very special to her." ... "There were three other great-grandchildren." [not named] That expression "was very special to her" was only used for JJD's granddaughter.



Just from this obit, then, it seems that JJD has a close relationship with his mom that extended right down to his kids and grandkid. For those who speculated his relationship with his mom was abusive, strained or distant (I was one of them), that's turning out to be one more surprise.

I noticed that too. My guess is either they did have a very strong bond or JJD wrote the obituary and talked up his own kids.
