The wig theory makes the most sense since it seems that any pictures of JJD show short hair, but longer hair is seen on most of the composites.  This doesn't fit with JJD being a LEO in a rural community in the 1970s - hair regulations were likely looser that a decade before, but very unlikely to have allowed shoulder-length hair.

I remain, regardless of what authorities and other posters say, of the belief that the "baseball picture" is NOT JJD.  I have to believe that it is somehow miscaptioned in the newspaper - check out the "Corrections" section of any newspaper and you will see that this is a common occurence.   However, one aspect of matching JJD to the "mustache composite" seems to be being ignored:  How can JJD "exactly" match two different Maggiore composites with distinctly differing features at the same time?  I agree that JJD resembled the "clean-cut composite"and that the "baseball composite" is a dead-ringer for the "mustache composite", but how could he look so different at the same time?  Did he lose weight and grow a mustache in a matter of seconds between witnesses seeing him?  No, something is goofy about these composite/JJD comparisons and I believe it is that the "baseball picture" is bogus.

Woolworths in SF used to carry them in the 70s. They had a wig section . I bet they had the same types of stores in Sacremento back then. I know they had a Pay N Save farther north too, since that's where he was caught shoplifting.

It strikes me as extremely unlikely to be related to the EAR case though. The two witnesses to the sale of the Valiant both put him as quite young, with one putting him at 16, the other at about 20. We'll probably never know though, as there's essentially no chance any of the items found in that car are still around. Folsom PD just had no reason at all to keep that stuff for 45 years.

It cannot be ruled out though.  I have an example of a prolific rapist who used the guises of real estate and jogging to stalk suspects who was described as appearing in his early twenties when he was 31 years old.  In addition to being obsessed with his youthful appearance I also believe he capitalized on it as part of his efforts to avoid identification.  It begs the question of how he might have been described in 1976 when he was 29 years old, perhaps as 20?

Sure, it's theoretically possible. But I feel pretty comfortable saying that nobody even half awake is going to report this guy as being possibly 16 years old.

100% agree there. I don’t believe Deangelo would have ever looked particularly younger than stated age. With his outdoor hobbies and erratic schedule I am sure he aged on time.

I don't see how he could look 16 at that time but I think that he must have tried to make himself look younger at times.  He was many times reported by victims as younger.  I think he was a master at changing his appearance.  Classic for me was the way his look/body changed when he stood up and gave his apology at the trial. He looked totally different when he stood up and spoke.
