The first post I ever made on the A&E board was of the patch for Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow CA.
In the SS death index, it says that JJD sr was part of the "Railroad Board." Now I see in the FOIA records that he was in charge of supplies.

The SP and other railroads used to ship truck trailer mounted missiles accompanying the missiles was usually one or two UP caboose for the guards..

In the Jan 1961 issue of "Trains " magazine were photo's of the USAF testing cars built by ACF for the "Minuteman Missile's. The Missile car was 88 feet long over the couplers with 12 jacking pads to provide a stable platform for shooting the missile.
