Oh jeez-Alameda County. I used to live there. AC has REALLY bad county leadership. Alameda County likes to pretend to be progressive and well-informed (concerned about privacy rights of killers-HA!) but behind the scenes they are extremely lazy and corrupt. I can't remember what their homicide solve rate is off the top of my head but it is extremely low. The police in Oakland are some of the highest paid police in the country, (some detectives make over 140k/year apparently) yet they are also VERY corrupt. Among recent public scandals OPD officers perpetrated rape, extortion, and sexual harassment of local sex-workers. On some very high profile homicide cases detectives dropped the ball big-time by literally losing evidence in the middle of the investigation. In addition to this, the police in the city of Alameda are extremely racist. This I know due to various Mexican friends of mine who were ARRESTED for minor traffic violations, which were later dismissed by the DA and processed in traffic court as they should have been done initially. Alameda PD also take polaroid photos of anyone they stop who is dark-skinned/Hispanic looking. It is sickening.
Makes one wonder about LE's relationship with the DA's office in Alameda.
Sad for the family, that the new technology is there yet officials are hesitant to use it. Otoh, are they smart in waiting and seeing how some of these cases play out? The article mentioned ACLU is already filing suit.
f1guyus: If JJD lasts until August the victims will get their chance. Sadly there’s no getting even. For all intents and purposes Joe got away with it. Prison is probably going to kill him a lot sooner that fishing and lawn care.

elir: Goletaguru there is a person named Huddle in LE in Goleta for several years, it appears he is now doing something with the Santa Barbara Sheriffs office. His dad was a cop in Santa Barbara in the 1970s .

elir: Don’t know if they are related to the Huddle at your elementary school or if they are related to James and Sharon Huddle. You think if the Santa Barbara Huddles were were related to Sharon we would have known that by now, so probably a strange coincidence
