Well, he was doing quite a lot of driving if he lived in Santa Cruz and did all the Z stuff. Not saying he's impossible but I don't see any compelling evidence, either. You can't prove the Z did the CJB murder, and you can't prove Ross murdered anybody. If you are saying the witnesses can't judge ht. and wt., how can you turn around and say Fouke was very reliable about a widow's peak. You're cherry picking the info you want to fit your suspect. This is not an argument for Allen's guilt and Sullivan's innocence, Allen is demonstrably innocent and there isn't any evidence to support Sullivan's guilt...or innocence for that matter. Just loose associations and circumstances that seem to work if we strain credibility just so.
Is Sullivan the rumoured bearded gentleman that did not show when police requested everyone who was at the Library the night of Ms. Bates' murder return for questioning?
Concerning the letters and cards, I personally think too much weight is given to the handwriting while the actual content of the writing's and conscious stylistic choices made are overlooked and neglected. Virtually ignored.
If we examine the fabrication of certain features of the Halloween Card, we do not find any commonalities with previous writings in style or content. We see new symbols that we never saw before or after. There has been a lot made of "4-TEEN" and what it means(The four teens who were witnesses to Stine's murder? The fourteenth victim? And so on...).
The Pines Card has features that are not present in any other missive as well as being absent of commonalities that would link it to others.
The Red Phantom letter is a huge stretch and the two '78 letters were obvious fakes. Such is the "Bleeding Knife of Zodiac!!! BOO!!! I remember when there was a legit discussion by some who felt that the crudely drawn phallus and sloppily written letter was an authentic Z letter. Wasn't it written in pencil and composed on notebook paper? Ridiculous.
The only stylistic choice we can objectively contribute to Z is The Belli letter. Obvious satire and meant to be from the perspective of the pathetic individual who called the Dunbar Show. Written with a seeming awareness of The Lipstick Killer, we have our first meta-serial-killer.
Zodiac wrote extensively and he was definitely not coy about about identifying himself. The inclusion of these questionable letters and cards only serves to muddy the waters. They broaden the field instead of narrowing it.
Ultimately, we should view the murder of Ms. Bates the same way. While the letters may contain similarities to those written by Zodiac, the crime itself does not. Fierce, gory, and intimate, with a near decapitation; a far cry from the physical manifestation of impotence we see at Berryessa. Prone and bound victims, big sharp knife, neither victim dies. At least, not right away. Some think the costume at Berryessa was an expression of fantasy and they may be correct. Couldn't it also have been a buffer intended to insulate himself from his victims? The way some murders shut the eyes or cover the faces of their victims. Z was terrible at killing. Everyone kept surviving. What a klutz. Am I right? The guy in Riverside got it right on his first try.
Out of the 7 confirmed Zodiac victims, he succeeded in murdering 5...and never failed with the females, just like Cheri Jo...I wouldn't call that a klutz
