I have wondered the same thing, as well.
But then, every time I look at photos of Charlene I change my mind. She is absolutely gorgeous. Breathtakingly gorgeous! She was probably even more beautiful in person. When I imagine her beauty along with her voice, her figure and her movements, I can’t help but believe that JJD saw her and immediately decided He was going to rape her, kill her, and then completely destroy her beautiful face.
I believe it may have been more that JJD cast unfair judgment upon Charlene and Janelle (see my above post to you). He may of used that as an excuse (in his twisted mind) for raping and killing them.
JJD wasn’t driven by anything to rape and kill. He didn’t need to be driven to commit such heinous crimes. He was born the EARONS.
I believe JJD had a deep ingrained resentment of Bonnie dumping him. I’m sure that whenever JJD came across a woman who resembled Bonnie, he would start to dwell on her rejection from scratch. Any first impressions would be physical appearance, looks. If JJD then stalked such a woman and broke into her home, he would have found out more about her. More things about the woman could have reminded him more of Bonnie. Bonnie was intelligent and outgoing. She came from a good family. She was studying to be a nurse while she was engaged to JJD.
JJD’s last contact with Bonnie was when he tapped on her bedroom window with a gun, climbed through it, then tried to get Bonnie to elope with him to Reno. Bonnie got away from him and ran to her parent’s room. Her father took JJD outside and lectured for nearly an hour.
I suspect JJD replayed that night over and over again through his attacks, but in the attacks he wasn’t thrown out. Instead, JJD got to stay and have sex with the woman all night long, and he took over the whole household. He looked through the family photo albums to see what the llives of his victims were like, which was the kind of life he once anticipated as having with Bonnie.
In the attack where he cried while saying, “I hate you Bonnie... I hate you Bonnie!”, JJD was already married to Sharon for a few years, yet it’s Bonnie who was on his mind. JJD’s feel le victims represented Bonnie. They were all beautiful and intelligent. Bonnie called the final and ultimate shot in their relationship, which was to end it. JJD remained stuck on her her beauty, her intelligence. JJD hated being stuck on her beauty. He thought that if Bonnie were not as beautiful as she was, perhaps he wouldn’t have been so stuck on her (attractiveness drove his rage). Whenever JJD saw a beautiful woman it reminded him of how he felt about Bonnie and how she dumped him. JJD wished he could smash-in and destroy the face that has imprisoned him. But he could not because he was linked to it through his past relationship with Bonnie. JJD did it anyway, with surrogates. JJD shot Katie in her face. He bludgeoned the faces of Patricia, Charlene, Debbie, Manuela and Janelle.
