The elements I remember are:

1) some the SB victim's homes (Manning/Offerman and the Queen Ann attack) were along a creek which also ran by Glasby's house (and ONS was seen running in the direction of Glasby's house after the Queen Anne attack).
2) the infamous 3-toed dog footprints found at the Manning/Offerman crime scene was Glasby's neighbor's dog
3) Glasby had some connection to Offerman: he was convicted(?) of assualting Offerman's janitor
4) Glasby was involved in drugs (dealing, etc) and had a record of violence (see #3). Maybe GSK knew Glasby thru some drug connection and knew his record/reputation.

Instead of answering here, since it was so long, I decided to start a new thread titled "Framing Theory".  Information is also at a&e under "Did EAR/ONS frame people, I think he did".  I thought instead of being redundant, it might be more succinct to copy and paste my letter to and response from Investigator Pool.  I feel so proud that he communicated back and forth with me but his response was a little disappointing. 

To paraphrase him, Investigator Pool said that he, couldn't at this point, with his budget and time restraints on this cold case investigate theories, or poi's that don't fit within specific parameters.  He also, in a different correspondence, acknowledged that perhaps that is why LE has been unsuccessful to date in finding out who GSK is because perhaps GSK himself does not fall within their parameters.  He said, nonetheless, those are the constraints he works under.   

Oh well, I tried.  I wanted to post this theory because if the right person reads it, perhaps someone in LE, they might agree with me and pursue that avenue.  I sure know I would pursue it, if I was in LE. And, by the way, I would definitely pursue Conquistador's theory I posted on a different thread. Maybe someday somebody will.

We can place Glasby in Sacramento at the right time, no doubt about it.

And the connection would be a Santa Barbara "dirty cop" who did Glasby's father a favor and hid Brett in a safe house in Sacramento where the dirty cop had a sideline business which, if I recall correctly, pertained to ... construction.

The dirty cop would link Glasby to EAR in the right place at the right time.  More than one person has wondered whether one of the two people suspected in Maggiore killings was ... Brett Glasby.

I have never been able to get the dirty cop's name, but Arch knows who it is.

My impression is that current LE does not want to go down this investigative road ... at all!!

I'm trying to recall, but the dirty cop went north from Santa Barbara to Sacramento around the time GSK came down from up north to Goleta. I have to research my notes, but the dirty cop himself is not a poi. I just wonder if that could be where the connection is "through" the dirty cop and his acquaintances. The saying "birds of a feather flock together" comes to mind. That cop would hang out with like minded people probably, and not upstanding citizens, I would imagine.

I believe the dirty cop had a roofing business and Brett worked for him doing roofing. Something regarding roofing materials was found outside the O/M condos. I believe it was roofing tar that was utilized for the 3 strand nylon twine to keep it from fraying at the ends.

I agree that the dirty cop is not a POI candidate. But ...

I also think this line of research gets us on the right track, and within no more than one or two degrees of separation from the identity of the EAR/ONS.

Glasby was still at Dos Pueblos High School throughout most of the EAR attacks in Sacramento. He left school after his junior year and spent six months in the Marine Corps. . . .through 1978.

The person some are referring to as a "dirty" cop was a friend of Glasby's father. What evidence does anyone have that this retired policeman was dirty? He was also way too old to be a POI in any of the cases.

Could Glasby have known GSK? Possibly. It's also possible that GSK was gainfully employed by one of the defense contractors in Goleta and was 26 years old or older in 1979-1981 and wasn't a Haskell local.

Drifter-  Glasby was a freshman and sophomore in high school for most of the EAR attacks.  Yes, he could have met someone while in the Marines or in Sac that followed him back to Goleta.  I will ask Arch for clarification about the retired friend of Glasby's Dad who lived in Sac.

Just as the Cruz and Smith investigations went down the wrong path because of a false confession in the first and a plethora of POI's in the latter, I think Goleta focused too much on young locals.  I think GSK may have been in graduate school at UCSB or was working for a defense contractor or company that also had a presence in  Irvine.

You take the position that the ONS was relatively older and smarter than Glasby and Glasby's gang.

That's fine. But then what about the 1978 threatening phone call EAR made, the background sounds to which were recently decoded by relentless? Those background voices convey the impression that the EAR was a young kid visiting his girlfriend, or possibly the young son of the older lady.

How do you reconcile a youngish kid vs. an older, smarter graduate student at UCSB or employee of defense contractor?  Further ...

How do you reconcile a graduate student at UCSB (or defense contractor employee) writing those inane write-ups mentioned in the LA magazine article?

Not trying to paint you into a corner.  Just trying to bring in different elements of this case, and show that when we put these elements side by side, there are lots of apparent contradictions.

Yes, Glasby was definitely cleared, too young, at Dos Pueblos etc.  yet he was in Sacramento and may have come in contact with an older GSK.  One thought that comes to mind is that while Glasby was doing roofing, could GSK have been a roofer too.  Or if the cop connection could turn out to be correct, possibly it could be one of the "dirty" cops friends.

As to who said that this retired  cop was dirty:  Port, I am so glad you point these things out!  It is very important to not let misinformation get ahold. 


One thing is you said he was way too old to be a poi.  While I don't think he is a poi because he was in Santa Barbara while GSK was active in Sacramento and they seemed to trade places and GSK move south while the cop moved north.  I thought he was only in his 40's.  I can't find my notes at the moment on that, so is that incorrect? 

So, do you disagree with that assessment of him regarding his being a "dirty cop"?  I didn't come up with that on my own, that is something I read quite a bit on the old board.  That notion was never corrected as far as I know.   Then, whenever I mentioned it to you, Arch, g. and some others that seemed to have a lot of knowledge, nobody corrected me and said he wasn't a dirty cop and that includes Inv. Pool so that is why I went along with that assessment of him.

Also, any cop who would hide someone out from the authorities, isn't a good cop for sure, but I agree that saying he was a dirty cop is a huge leap.  So I don't want to continue to say he was a dirty cop if he wasn't.  Can you clarify that? 

I have often wondered how one family, Glasby's,  had so many criminal kids?   Kids involved in drug dealing, pot farms, breaking and entering, beating people up, and I don't know what else.  And Wayne Glasby being in prison.     It makes me wonder about the father.  So I was suspecting the father was involved in questionable activities and if said cop was friends with the father the whole thing looks bad to me.  I agree that that could be a wrong assumption. 

Please do correct me if I am wrong.  That is why I wish Arch and g. and anyone with knowledge of these facts would weigh in.

Yes, I do not believe for a minute that GSK was a young high school or even college student living at home.  What parent wouldn't notice that their child was out all day and night, collected ski masks and jewelry, a weapons arsenal, etc.?  The transcription of the phone call completed by Relentless may reflect a call made from the parents while home for Christmas break.

 I think that GSK's poor writing skills could be a reflection of the left brain right brain phenomena.  I have mentioned before that I have personal experience of acquaintances who were brilliant physicists and computer programmers who had terrible writing skills.  I can think of at least two who completed graduate degrees at Berkeley in spite of this "handicap".

Building was booming in Irvine and Dana Point.  It was never booming in Goleta.  Yes, he could have been a construction worker, but why Goleta?

Goleta ,during this time period, had scientists working on many new technologies not just confined to the military.

I am open to many theories about GSK, but unless his parents were psychopaths themselves, he wasn't living at home.
