This is another murder case from Auburn California that is not a typical GSK style murder but because Susan Waters' body was found a block away from the Auburn Police Department and there was little forensic evidence left at the crime scene, I'm posting it.

Susan Waters' body was found at 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn on 9/6/2005.
Ms. Waters was a well-known and liked Auburn resident who walked all over town. That day, she had been at the Gold Country Fair and walked from the fair grounds on Auburn-Folsom Rd. to the Shanghai Bar in Old Auburn. She was last seen at the Shanghai Bar around 10:00 PM.
Her body was found about a block from the Auburn Police Department behind a commercial building in some tall hedges at 1:30 AM. Her body was not visible from Lincoln Way but when someone turned into the alley that runs along the side of the building, they saw her body and called the police.
Ms. Waters' cause of death was not immediately obvious but the coroner determined the manner of death was homicide. The Auburn PD did not release the cause of death for many years but did eventually indicate that Ms. Waters was asphyxiated. Her sister, in a newspaper article, said that her face was mashed and bruised, indicating they she had struggled with her killer, although the police have not confirmed these injuries. Her body was found partially clothed but the police have not confirmed if she was sexually assaulted.
A man was seen in that area and was described as a white male, 6', 40-50 years old, 190-200 pounds with dark brown hair driving an early 1980's 4 door tan sedan.
There was a podcast produced regarding this case in 2018.
