Hello all,
I hope everyone is doing well and surviving all of this weird weather.
I haven’t been around here as much as I’d like! There are a few issues that have cropped up, and hopefully we’re in the process of turning them around. For one thing, I’ve appointed a new moderator -- Richmond. Richmond is not a veteran of these boards, but he's helped manage communities like this. Hopefully having a third mod will reduce some of the strain that the main sections and the Colonial Parkway sections are under!
Another news bulletin is that after numerous issues, we’ve had to turn on a feature that restricts registration. It’s still possible for new members to join, but it now requires moderator intervention.
A similar issue -- there are users posting here with multiple screen names in an effort to push and normalize certain viewpoints. We’re in the process of taking care of this.
If you've tried to attach a file lately -- sorry! We’ve reached our storage limit for attachments. Rather than continue to pay for more space, I have a technical person working to reduce our attachment folders.
And one final thing -- something related to the case in general. Please remember that cases like this have a treacherous news cycle. I’d like to remind everyone to be skeptical of some of the rumors and information that’s being presented by news outlets, social media, and even some of the posters on message boards like our own. With all of the newfound interest in this case, mistakes and misinformation are propagating at lightning speed! Ensuring the accuracy of case information isn’t as important now as it was before there was an arrest, but it’s still disheartening to see. I know it’s not easy to untangle all of the things that are being posted and printed, but that’s why we have each other
Thank you for reading, and please let us know if there’s anything we can help with. Thank you for all of your thoughtful contributions to the forum and for helping to keep this case alive in good times and in bad.
