JJDs family life was in tatters in 1964.  His parents were divorcing and his mother was obviously living in Auburn by then if his brother John graduated from junior high in Auburn.  Kids deal with their parents divorcing in different ways.  JJD's name changes tends to make me believe that he "sided" with his father in the divorce. 

It's interesting... there was a SacBee article featuring Doug Burgarel, whose father owned Sierra Crane and Hoist in Auburn. (Where Jack Bosanko worked. Bosanko bought land off Burgarel and built a house.)

In the article Doug Burgarel says DeAngelo moved to Auburn with his mother and step-father. I also seem to remember a filmed interview with a friend of DeAngelo from Auburn talking about this time period, not the later Police years. It may have been Doug Burgarel I'm not sure.

almagata. re: John DeAngelo graduating from the school in Auburn in June '64. This implies the mother was living in Auburn at that time, before her divorce in Sept. If Doug Burgarel is right saying that Joe DeAngelo went to live in Auburn with his mother, and they moved to Auburn before graduating, perhaps the move was the reason he dropped out of High School. (Or, probably one of several reasons.)

When he was moved to Auburn it would make sense he would start cruising on down to Rancho to see his old homies and his old hood and all of a sudden start creeping and then scurry back home. When he got older he was like that Rancho Cordova hood is easy access and Auburn is easy getaway.

I have found when looking back through 50s and 60s yearbooks that often the underclassmen were pictured as a group (by homeroom or teacher)and only the seniors had individual pictures. No doubt. I grew up in Rancho Cordova as he did and still live here. I can actually see what he was seeing, sorta. This attack zone from a bit afar makes sense to me.

I see JJD as a juvenile not participating in simple shoplifting or petty crimes he was more of sneaky bastard that would do things when no one was looking and the more he got away with the more he did. The most logical is peeping and he would have started with a close neighbor then he would begin to entertain the idea of entering the neighbors home when they were not home or he may have been asked to feed their dog or cat while they go away for vacations and that allowed him to be inside a home and when he began snooping maybe finding interest in the female members of the family intimate objects. JJD even as EAR had a very firm believe he was not a bad guy he went out of his way attempting to agree to be protecting himself when he did start the violence all the while thinking he was not bad.

JJD was clever at hiding his true self even as a kid his sexual fantasy life at the puberty level increased because the peeping had become a major priority and if he were to be caught he would no longer be a good guy to those around him and himself.

Yep, his pic was in the junior year, but not the senior year. A different source in one of these threads found his GED. I'm sure a search will yield that info.

Honestly, I have not seen any yearbook photos. I have been repeating those I trust on this list. I'm hoping someone has an actual yearbook covering those years that they will share.

Also, I tried searching on "GED", but the results were full of GED Match DNA convo ...

The conception that I have of the EAR is not that he had a need to think of himself as “not a bad guy”. I think that he embraced and reveled in it. I don’t see any sign of any Robin Hood complex or anything. I think that he may of had a traumatic childhood that he liked to think of as an excuse to do whatever he felt like doing. I’m thinking of stuff like, as the VR, him pouring people’s prescriptions down the drain.
Either way, i think that, when he was young, he was probably most comfortable around kids who were younger than him and/or were follower types.
I bet that he was a sexual predator, a liar and thief from an early age.

You may be right but him becoming a cop is telling deep inside as to who he believed he needed to portray to those around him. What those close to him thought was important and he made great efforts going to great links to have total control over what others saw in him. That is also why he was not ever looked at as a serious POI no one knew the true man.

Should look at Placer High School yearbooks from 1962-1964. If he moved to Auburn he would’ve gone to Placer.
