I think that JJD was zodiac. The main reason that I think so is that he arrives so expert with a gun. He’s able to win gunfights that take him by surprise in the dark. By the time anyone knows of him he’s already wild Bill Hickok. I don’t think that skills like he had could be gained from simply getting good at aiming from shooting squirrels. There has to be so much that would go into it besides aim. Two NYC police have died this year from gunfire — both from”friendly fire”. Even cops spray bullets everywhere — missing more than they hit while under duress. Where did his experience come from? That he had been the zodiac would explain it well. I have no problem reconciling the MO shifts, he went through four years of college to become a cop so as to be a better panty raider. I could see him thinking that the most important skill that he had to master to do what he planned to do with his life would be to become very certain of his ability to kill in any imaginable situation. I think that he may have practiced by being zodiac. I think that he may have fantasized, like many young people, of being famous. He would have achieved that quit easily with the zodiac crimes along with the letters. Perhaps he got that out of his system a bit and went on to devoting more effort to what he loved prowling, spying and messing with people and let the fame come to him.
As horrible as they were, it kinda seems that the actual rapes may not have been the main point to him, like after hundreds of cat burglaries and watching hundreds of people as they slept that he decided that he needed to do something with it and the rape phase was what he did. There is some element of them seeming perfunctory at times. Also, he got famous again.
The Sandy guy was described as around 18 years old — wasn’t he?
