There has been much discussion over time about D.B. Cooper and the Zodiac being the same individual. This is of course due to the striking similarity in the police composites, and of course the letter writing to the newspapers, the claim that he did not look like himself when he committed his crimes. It seems crazy to consider one person could have done all of what these two notorious criminals did, but not as crazy to consider it as to have perpetrated any of it.
What if they are the same person? Does the timeline support the possibility?
The Zodiac canonical attacks ran from December, 1968 through November, 1969. Then there are the Nightingale murders occurring in 1970 which really do look suspicious for Zodiac. Correspondence from the Zodiac seems to support his involvement in some of those incidents. Do we then assume the Zodiac took a break from collecting Slaves for Paradice in 1971 so he could prepare for his jet hijacking under a new identity?
Here are some interesting dates and events to consider.

D.B. Cooper Letter #1: Sent 11/27/71 from Oakland, CA to the Reno Gazette.
D.B. Cooper Letter #2: Sent 12/1/71 from Vancouver, WA to the Vancouver Province, in it he says he watched the Gray Cup game which was held on 11/28/71. Is it possible to mail a letter in Oakland, CA on 11/27 and watch a game in Vancouver on 11/28. It is very possible, it is only a 10 hour drive and he would have been on the lam so best to keep moving I would imagine.
D.B. Cooper Letter #3: Sent from Portland, OR to the Portland, Oregonian bearing a cancellation date of 12/1/71.
D.B. Cooper Letter #4: Sent to the Reno Gazette from the Sacramento area. Mentioned in the 12/3/71 edition of the Gazette.
The above locations are interesting in that they include California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
12/14/1967: Burning of the murdered body of Jeanne Pennebaker on the beach in Ocean Shores, WA. The husband is charged but it all seems so Zodiacesque, just including it here as a point of interest. If anyone is interested I can paste in some news articles but there is little info. It is interesting though that her husband pleaded guilty but that was after he pleaded innocent. He was a senior in college with a beautiful wife, they were only about 21 years old. Seems odd.
12/7/71: Teenager Jamie Grissim (17 y.o.) vanishes in Vancouver, WA, reddish color hair, last seen walking home from school. She is never found again. Yes, it is possible to go from Sacramento back to Vancouver, there would have been plenty of time here.
01/12/72: Nancy Liptrap, another teenager (16 y.o.) disappears in Des Moines, WA, red hair, while on her way to catch the bus to school. Her body is found, she has been brutally assaulted but apparently no evidence of sexual assault, shot and dumped in a field. No viable suspect is ever found.
Its interesting then, when you consider that many have believed possible that there is a link between the Zodiac and The EAR, the subtle and not so subtle similarities. And then you factor in the dates and the locations of happenings and how they all fit together in a running chronology and you sort of have to conclude that it is possible. And then maybe we need to find an impotent watcher, who was held to a high standard of success but had no success, who claimed he would someday be rich, someone with an unbridled sex obsession who fantasy role played and was familiar with all of these areas, someone who moved around a lot and who had multiple complex underlying motivations. Maybe someone who liked brown or red or auburn hair victims.
