In my opinion, I don't think JJD is starving himself in the hopes of dying. His lifestyle has drastically changed for the worse. He lived for 72 years as a free man. He knows that with all of these charges and the DNA evidence, he will never be a free man again. I truly believe that he thought, at this stage in his life, LE would never identify him. Therefore, no one will ever know he was behind these evil, sick actions. I think he was legitimately shocked when he was arrested. I don't think he ever thought it would happen, especially after decades passed and he wasn't caught. Now, everyone in his life knows who he really is. He can't hide anymore. People are searching his past and his secrets are slowly being revealed. I think he is humiliated that all of these crimes are linked to him. There is no doubt about who and what he is. I think that all of that has taken a tremendous toll on him. How could it not?
Also, we know JJD ate a lot of junk food and drank a lot of beer. His diet and foot intake has also drastically changed. If a family member or friend isn't putting money on his commissary then he is only getting his three meals a day. It's only natural to expect that he would lose a lot of weight from the drastic change in his food intake. And when you add stress and depression he's feeling, it's no wonder he looks the way he does.
I think that if he was truly starving himself, he wouldn't be able to function. During his court appearances, he is able to walk in on his own and stand up without any assistance. He is able to listen and understand what people are saying and he can even talk with his attorneys. If he were truly dying of starvation, I don't think he'd be able to do all that.
I suspect that his attorney's will ask for more time to review the evidence and they will set another court date for the summer. It's frustrating but at least he is behind bars and living a miserable life.
Yes, Johnny, we can only hope that is what he was told...lol.
I have a distinct feeling, though, that he would still have access to his funds through a family member or other representative.
From what I understand, a defendant is initially required to submit financial information to the court regarding their financial status. If they are allowed a public defender, once a trial has ended, then court costs are assessed along with the current financial records of the defendant, who has been represented by the public defender. The defendant is then informed what their individual financial contribution will be, based on a sliding scale fee.
Now, this is only my understanding of what transpires based on what I have read and heard.
I could be very wrong, so if anyone knows any different, please elaborate. Thank you.
