I agree with what you're saying but highly unlikely he will get 'a beating'... Although I wish he would get it. He will 100% be in protective custody at all times 24/7... The only people he'll have physical contact with ever again in his miserable life is with CO's and his lawyers.

Sadly, you are 100% correct, jb130--given his status, he'll still remain under the microscope via that Protective Custody Unit.

I don't emphasize those "rough & tumble" aspects of the EAR/ONS saga aimlessly. Based upon what we've learned about him, and what we've seen from him (especially in his court appearances since Apr. 18) it's my personal conclusion he is a classic hardcase--to wit, an incorrigible, and thus any attempts at reasoning with him or appealing to his sense of empathy are exercises in futility whereas desired responses/behavior can be had from him if properly...pressed. Even on Monday, he was still doing his best--however subtly--to act the wiseguy when he'd pause and take his sweet time responding to Judge Bowman with "I Admit," or "Guilty."

That does give me satisfaction knowing the rest of his interactions will be mundane legal back & forth(s)--robotic and antiseptic. At the same time--especially at his age--he'll always have that stress of having to keep one eye open even when he sleeps for reasons he's all too aware.

mf73, good to see you back on the forum.

Elaborate and complex plans were hatched in his head & executed. As we could see, all of that possibly took weeks to complete in some cases - for this Jerry. Yes, it can be fixed. A slap by his neighbor, that puts his jaw out of the socket, should fix Jerry for good.

Likewise--very nice to see some familiar names!

He'll have no choice but to play nice where he's been--and where he's going.  There was still a slight but noticeable sense of shock emanating from him on Monday.

I'm mixed on this one.

We know he would give false leads why committing these awful crimes but if we say he's a psychopath then there are many underlying mental issues and talking to himself/having an imaginary friend.

Maybe blaming 'gerry' is his way of compartmentalising his crimes. Maybe its a coping mechanism. Maybe he knows after he's committed a crime that its wrong but he deals with it by using a character. I mean, psychopaths dont show the symptoms all the time, so perhaps he wants to be normal while still acting on what must be a massive urge from within.

I think gerry is real(in his head). I don't think he's trying to torture or hurt the victims any more as he's admitted to all the charges and in the process shows himself as weak and feeble.

I hope the victims have found peace now

I remember this, too, but can't seem to find the incident.  Do you remember which one this happened at?  I was going to re-read the details for context.  This might seem ridiculous without remembering how this incident unfolded, but I'm wondering if he may have said "Bran" instead of "Ben" as a nickname for Branagan.

And maybe it is just his way of deflecting some responsibility.  He probably rehearsed this over the years and he borrowed the strategy from other of his ilk.  I am sure he knew he was being watched and recorded in his waiting room.  'I didn't wanna do it.  It was Jerry that made me do it.'  And the 'I did all those things, now I have to pay' to make it look like there was some contrition in him.  Just another way of being in control, or at least thinking you are.  The guy is a manipulator and a deceiver.  Of course this is part of his game.  He had 32 years after his last murder to come out of hiding and own it.  That was never in his plan.

It was a peeping incident that people thought might have been related. But I thought LE found the individual and it was not DeAngelo.

Maybe he was just short of cash, or maybe he thought lugging around a heavy set of plates, as he made his escape, was worth the additional risk.

The possible VR 'Ben' incident from Visalia, 1973:



VR was stalking a teenage girl in Visalia; she saw him staring into her window, clutching a screwdriver. She screamed and he ran away. About a week later the girl's boyfriend, who was waiting for her outside, caught the VR crawling across her lawn. He confronted him and the VR loudly said "Well, Ben, it looks like the guy’s got us here!" apparently trying to convince him that he had an accomplice, although there was nobody else there.



Some believe this ransacker was Shelby's prime VR suspect 'Peter Burgess', rather than JJD though.

Others have suggested that the ransacker was trying to hint at the involvement of Bennies Galloway.

Galloway was committing masked, home invasion rapes similar to the ones JJD went on to commit in Sac, and anti burglary cop JJD would have been well aware of all the local criminals.

Attack #36 - JJD steals 8lbs of pennies.  The Branagan lookalike 'Shire Man' is seen.

JJD attacks again two weeks later, then doesn't attack again for over three months.

Attack #38 - JJD steals $4000 of goods, including for some reason a lot of heavy plates and kitchen utensils.

Was JJD burglarising, rather than raping during the summer of '78?  There weren't any EAR attacks from July until October.

It's strange how JJD's riskiest two burglaries during the EAR series take place during the 'Shire Man'/3 month sabbatical period.

I think it might have been the Shelby POI 'Peter Burgess' who said this.

VR also said "See you later, Sandy" when spotted by a witness on another occasion.

Obviously this was JJD referring to the 1963 Domingos/Edwards murder committed by 'Sandy' .

The top POI for 'Sandy' was 17 year old RLB; a car washer and gun thief from Sac, the same age as JJD, who went on to join the navy, then became a security guard.
